Underwater Wireless Power Transfer

Underwater Wireless Power Transfer

This book discusses, for the first time, wireless power transfer in the ocean environment. Topics covered include power electronic techniques, advanced control strategies, as well as classic and emerging applications such as smart ocean energy systems and wireless power transfer and charging of underwater autonomous vehicles. Emerging research topics are presented, along with methodologies, approaches, and industrial development of intelligent and energy-efficient techniques. Apart from the basic principles with an emphasis on inductive power transfer and mathematical analysis, the book discusses the emerging implementation for underwater wireless power transfer such as energy encryption, power and data transfer through common links, and secured data- and cyber-security. Specifically, the book comprehensively introduces significant discussions on UWPT coil theoretical and experimental analysis in seawater, optimal design, and intelligent controls. For example, since fast communicationis not viable in an underwater environment, the proposed book discusses Maximum Power Efficiency Tracking (MPET) control, which achieves a maximum power efficiency (>85%) without communication or feedback from the transmitting side of the UWPT system. A k-nearest-neighbors-based machine learning approach is used to estimate the coupling coefficiency between the coils. This machine learning-based intelligent control method can offer important guidance for graduate students, academic researchers, and industrial engineers who want to understand the working principles and realize the developing trends in underwater wireless power transfer. Finally, the book includes details on the modeling and design of a smart ocean energy system--a new type of power harvesting system designed to convert ocean energy into electricity, which has the capability of making underwater wireless power connections with distributed marine devices.

The Employed Immigrant: How to Land Your Next 6 Figure Job in the United States is the first book to detail step-by-step what a skilled immigrant should do if they are looking for a job in the US. As an immigrant, you've made sacrifices and have worked hard to get to the US--now it's time to use all your skills and knowledge to find your dream job. In this book, Li Lin, career coach for immigrant professionals looking for their next 6 figure job, talks about how to create a network from nothing, how to interview like a rock star, and how to negotiate your worth like a pro. Coming from China to the US in 2000, Li Lin has had 16 years of experience being an immigrant herself, teaching other immigrants English, and now helping them land their dream jobs. Stuck on your job search and want to know how to fix it so you can land your next job faster and with more ease? Read the book now to find the secrets of how to become a successfully employed immigrant in the US

This book covers a series of security and privacy issues in network coding, and introduces three concrete mechanisms to address them. These mechanisms leverage traditional cryptographic primitives and anonymous protocols, and are redesigned to fit into the new framework of network coding. These three mechanisms are MacSig, a new message authentication method for network-coded systems; P-Coding, a new encryption scheme to secure network-coding-based transmissions; and ANOC, a new anonymous routing protocol that seamlessly integrates anonymous routing with network coding. Along with these three mechanisms, the authors provide a review of network coding's benefits, applications, and security problems. Also included is a detailed overview of security issues in the field, with an explanation of how the security issues differ from those in traditional settings. While network coding can help improve network performance, the adoption of network coding can begreatly limited unless security and privacy threats are addressed. Designed for researchers and professionals, Security in Network Coding explores major challenges in network coding and offers practical solutions. Advanced-level students studying networking or system security will also find the content valuable.

Control engineering seeks to understand physical systems, using mathematical modeling, in terms of inputs, outputs and various components with different behaviors. It has an essential role in a wide range of control systems, from household appliances to space flight. This book provides an in-depth view of the technologies that are implemented in most varieties of modern industrial control engineering. A solid grounding is provided in traditional control techniques, followed by detailed examination of modern control techniques such as real-time, distributed, robotic, embedded, computer and wireless control technologies. For each technology, the book discusses its full profile, from the field layer and the control layer to the operator layer. It also includes all the interfaces in industrial control systems: between controllers and systems; between different layers; and between operators and systems. It not only describes the details of both real-time operating systems and distributed operating systems, but also provides coverage of the microprocessor boot code, which other books lack. In addition to working principles and operation mechanisms, this book emphasizes the practical issues of components, devices and hardware circuits, giving the specification parameters, install procedures, calibration and configuration methodologies needed for engineers to put the theory into practice.
