Robin Hood is dead, slain at last by the Sheriff of Nottingham. The Merry Men have been cut down or scattered. Maid Marian and their son Basil are gone, presumed dead. But six-year-old Mary witnesses her father's death and swears vengeance. Protected by a religious order, she grows and plans. In time, the surrounding villages tell tales of a young woman righting wrongs and protecting the innocent, using her bow for justice. Her exploits attract attention, of other women who have suffered-including a Scottish warrior and French princess-as well as the Sheriff and even King Richard, who comes to see for himself. Peter David presents a fresh take on the classic legend, as he has with the Knights of the Round Table, the Artful Dodger, vampires, and werewolves.
