"Yes, this is a violent world that Nate inhabits, but he steers a true and moral course through the layers of deception, skullduggery and sometime worse that make these stories such high-density entertainment." T. Jefferson Parker, author of The Room of White FireIn this rollicking collection private investigator Nate Hollis, a routine visit to the dentist sends him into an underground world of addictive vices; hunts a killer in the dead of winter in Chicago; uncovers secrets from the buried past; stalks the stalker of super hero street performers in the back alleys of Tinseltown; braves the unforgiving streets of New York City to stop a killer, and more in this electric-charged assortment of stories. New York Times bestseller Sara Paretsky, Edgar winner Naomi Hirahara, Deadly Ink nominee Sarah M. Chen, hardboiled adept Scott Adlerberg, and new pulpster Phillip Drayer Duncan along with Hollis' creator and 2018 Anthony Award winner Gary Phillips (Black Pulp, Peepland) deliver tales of a P. I. who Kevin Burton Smith in Mystery Scene magazine said was "Slick as spit, big-shouldered Hollis walks the walk and talks the talk..." This edition also includes two previously published Hollis stories by Phillips, "King Cow" and "Hollywood Killer." Praise for the previous Nate Hollis collection, Hollis P. I." Each story entertained and what was a little bit surprising to me was the consistency of voice, from our author collective presenting our intrepid investigator Nate." Goodreads review "...excellent stories that really filled the bill "Amazon review

Brandon has given up the fast-paced career of a corporate assassin. As far as he's concerned, that part of his life is over. He's hung up his armour and enrolled in med-school, just like his mother always wanted. But when assassins show up on campus, he's forced to go on the run. And when he learns that his assassin father and brother have both disappeared under mysterious circumstances, he's got no choice but to suit back up and jump right back into the business. Can Brandon solve the mystery his ex-coworkers can't? Can he unravel a web of corporate lies and save his family? Everything's on the table in this game, and no one plays by the rules. It's never personal. Just business as usual in Assassins Incorporated.

There are villains. And there are heroes. And then there is The Warden. An enigma feared by all who stand for justice. He strikes where least expected, capturing heroes society depends on. Some say he collects them for display in his own private prison. Others doubt his existence. Yet all who bravely stand against the darkness have felt a tremor of fear at the utterance of his name. Now, one of the Warden's favorite hunting grounds has become dry. A new criminal mastermind has taken up residence in Hope City, with an army of villains at his disposal. A hero named Lament stands against them, but he's short on allies, outgunned, and has nothing except skill to rely on. The helpless Lament is of little interest to the Warden, but this shortage of heroes is a minor irritation he won't allow. Just once, can the Warden find it in himself to play on the side of the angels? Tales of the Warden: Hope City by Phillip Drayer Duncan. From Pro Se Productions.
