As sementes de Amla t m um potencial terap utico superior em compara o com os frutos em que residem. Assim, o objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar o efeito antioxidante in vitro, anti-inflamat rio e antimicrobiano dos extratos de sementes em Gacrtn Emblica Officinalis (Amla). O Amla usado h milhares de anos para conservar a sa de alimentar e tratar doen as. Os bioativos das sementes foram fracionados sequencialmente com hexano, clorof rmio, ter diet lico e solventes de metanol, na ordem crescente de polaridade. Os conte dos fen licos e flavon ides totais foram estimados. Esses extratos foram avaliados quanto propriedade antioxidante pelo m todo DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-picril-hidrazil) e o ensaio de redu o de pot ncia foi realizado utilizando o m todo FeCl3. Inibi o da 15-lipoxigenase (LO) por estes extratos em 5 - 25μg para avaliar a capacidade anti-inflamat ria foi estudada. A atividade antibacteriana contra algumas bact rias patog nicas humanas foi testada pelo m todo de difus o em disco de gar. Entre todos os extratos de solventes org nicos, extratos metan licos exibiram boa atividade antioxidante e antibacteriana. O extrato metan lico com um valor de IC50 de 58 ugs para inibi o de LOX relatado.
