The navigation system is one of the technologies which has completely transformed the management of any disease, disorder or condition in the field of surgery. Navigation surgery gives an answer to all the questions like, "Where is my anatomical target", "How to reach my target safely" or "where and how to position my implant while preserving vital structures". Navigation assisted surgery is a beneficial addition in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. There is no doubt that it provides reliability by increasing precision when planning any surgical resection or reconstruction. In addition, navigation surgery offers more security in operating complicated cases and may also provide a better clinical outcome if used judiciously. In this book, we present a review of the development of this rapidly evolving system, its components, principles and applications in the field of maxillofacial and craniofacial surgery.

Arthroscopy has becomes an acceptable method for the diagnosis and treatment of Temporomandibular Joint Disorders in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. its accuracy in diagnosing with added advantage of simutaneous biopsy of target area with minor complication. Also application of surgical lasers to the TMJ has extended the possibilities for arthroscopic surgery with good short term results and is cost effective too.
