Every tooth and restorative material have their own stress pattern recognizing them in vital to prior to designing a restoration without failure potential. Building a restoration is similar to building any mechanical structure in that the stress patterns of the available foundation and contemplated structure. Optimal functional capacity and stability of occlusal relationships are major considerations in every phase of restorative dentistry. Restoration not only mechanically replaces the lost part but, acts as a medium through which physical and mechanical forces are transmitted to the tooth and investing tissues. Each tooth has its own stress patterns. A thorough knowledge in dental materials is necessary to understand the physical properties including their response to stress. From this information obtained during the patient evaluation, the operator must envision the restoration replacing lost tooth structure being subjected to functional loading and then try to plan the best tooth preparation to both retain this restoration and make it resistant to these loads.

The word pharmaceutics is used in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences to encompass many areas related to formulation of the medicines. Medicines are rarely with single ingredient, they need additives to convert them into dosage forms and this in turn introduces the concept of formulation. The Physical Pharmaceutics-Experiment is a very important subject at Second year of the course of B. Pharm. programme. In this book wherever needed full forms and abbreviations, pictorial diagrams, tabular data, examples of formulation including marketed products and manufacturers are given and their kinetics of the Formulation.

All the functional appliances have been designed to treat all types of malocclusion, they are most effective in treating dental and skeletal class II malocclusion, particularly in cases with mandibular deficiency. The goal of myofunctional appliances is to use functional stimulus, channeling it to the greatest extent that the tissues, jaws, condyles and teeth allow. The age at which functional appliance therapy is instituted is of major importance for the successful correction of malocclusions. Functional appliance treatment should be coincident with periods of active growth. Most agree that it should be initiated during the middle to late mixed dentition i.e. at the age of 9 to 12 years. It can also be used earlier if the patient can cooperate in wearing the appliance. Myofunctional appliances can be seen as an exerciser for elimination of habits that may cause malocclusion or as appliances helping orthodontic treatments and they should be given at the right age, so the maximum utility of the growth can be achieved. This book will help in understanding the fabrication, function, mechanism of action and effect of myofunctional appliances.
