Stem cell research offers unprecedented opportunities for developing new medical therapies for debilitating diseases and a new way to explore fundamental questions of biology. Stem cells are unspecialized cells that can self-renew indefinitely and also differentiate into more mature cells with specialized functions. Research on human embryonic stem cells, however, is controversial, given the diverse views held in our society about the moral and legal status of the early embryo. The controversy has encouraged provocative and conflicting claims both inside and outside the scientific community about the biology and biomedical potential of both adult and embryonic stem cells.

The implant technology developed as the all-on-four concept is offered as an alternative to conventional implant applications. In the all-on-four technique, 4 implants are placed in the inter foraminal region in the mandible and in the pre-maxillary region in total edentulism cases. An exception is the all-on- Four concepts, which uses only 4 implants to support an acrylic, screw-retained provisional prosthesis delivered on the day of implant placement, followed by a definitive prosthesis approximately 4 months later. The patient can also be benefited from the immediate rehabilitation of edentulous arches which helps maintaining self-confidence and quality of life.
