An Introduction to Atmospheric Radiation, Third Edition is a comprehensive look at radiative transfer and its interaction with the atmosphere, which involves multiple processes that occur over a wide range of spatial-temporal scales. Progress has been made on many fronts in this area and new directions of research continues to emerge. The book will have 9 chapters, starting with the fundamentals of radiative transfer in the atmosphere and followed by its interactions with the atmospheric processes. An Introduction to Atmospheric Radiation, Third Edition has been extensively revised to address the fundamental study, physical understanding, and quantitative analysis of the interactions of solar and terrestrial radiation with molecules, aerosols, and cloud particles in planetary atmospheres through the theory of radiative transfer and radiometric observations made from the ground, the air, and space. Further, it outlines the scientific foundations that are central to our current understanding of atmospheric radiative transfer and how datasets deduced from satellite remote sensing can be combined with radiation parameterizations in weather and climate models to comprehend radiative transfer interactions, including feedback, with greenhouse gases, cloud, and aerosol. The 3rd edition will include definitions of radiation-related terms, literature review for each topic, recent developments, applications of radiation to remote sensing, and climate and climate change, as well as authors’ points of view and opinions on future research direction in this field. The new edition also includes a new chapter on aerosol-cloud-radiation interactions in climate and climate change. In addition, readers will have access to a powerful, state-of-the-art computational code, Fu-Liou-Gu radiation scheme, for simulating radiative transfer processes in the atmosphere. This computational code has been officially included in the widely used community Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF), referred to as FLG module, and will be an efficient and excellent educational aid as well as a research tool that can be applied to solve a variety of research problems in atmospheric, climate, and environmental sciences.
How God Forms Abraham to Be a Blessing: Using Formative Narrative Approach and Narrative Discourse Analysis
This book aims to understand God's interactions with Abraham in relation to God's command that Abraham "be a blessing" (Gen 12:2d), which is directly tied to God's goal that "in you all the families of the earth will be blessed" (Gen 12:3b). The book proposes a formative narrative approach to examine interactions between character and plot, the movement of plot, and the connection between sequential plots. An analysis of thirteen Abrahamic narratives (Gen 12-22) suggests a classification based on four different types of interactions between God and Abraham, which indicate how cooperation and conflict between God and Abraham advance the narrative's plot. The book then proposes a narrative discourse analysis to examine how Abraham evolved through different stages of the narrative by moving from deviation to cooperation. Detailed analysis of this transformation process reveals three turning points in Abraham's life. The formative narrative approach and narrative discourse analysis proposed in this book can contribute to the analysis of two important aspects of Old Testament narratives: the formation of plot and the cause-and-effect structure in narrative discourse.

The theory of Schur–Weyl duality has had a profound influence over many areas of algebra and combinatorics. This text is original in two respects: it discusses affine q-Schur algebras and presents an algebraic, as opposed to geometric, approach to affine quantum Schur–Weyl theory. To begin, various algebraic structures are discussed, including double Ringel–Hall algebras of cyclic quivers and their quantum loop algebra interpretation. The rest of the book investigates the affine quantum Schur–Weyl duality on three levels. This includes the affine quantum Schur–Weyl reciprocity, the bridging role of affine q-Schur algebras between representations of the quantum loop algebras and those of the corresponding affine Hecke algebras, presentation of affine quantum Schur algebras and the realisation conjecture for the double Ringel–Hall algebra with a proof of the classical case. This text is ideal for researchers in algebra and graduate students who want to master Ringel–Hall algebras and Schur–Weyl duality.
