Public Health research has highlighted that health inequalities are caused by broad conditions in which people are born, live, grow, work and age - ie. the so called "Social Determinants".

Dental traumatology has progressed in recent years to improve the understanding of the biological considerations involved in both diagnosis and treatment principles. The management of dental injuries is an evolving science. Sometimes, accurate counseling is essential so that the parents are aware of the possible long-term consequence of the injuries if the child has damaged permanent successor teeth. In the light of past and present scientific studies, it inevitable that some of the proposed recommendations will themselves be modified as new science reviews the effectiveness of treatment methods, and new materials and techniques develop to facilitate treatment.
