Introduction to Agricultural Economics

Introduction to Agricultural Economics

Oral Capps; John Penson; Parr Rosson; Richard Woodward

Cognella, Inc

pokkari
Introduction to Agricultural Economics presents students with a systematic introduction to essential economic concepts and issues within agriculture, reflecting on how microeconomic and macroeconomic forces shape production, marketing, and consumption of food and fiber products. The scope of the book extends beyond traditional farm management to incorporate a wider spectrum of activities that influence approximately 12-15% of the nation's output. The book intertwines micro, macro, and international trade aspects to offer a cohesive understanding of agricultural economics. Topics covered include consumer and producer behavior, market equilibria, agricultural policy, environmental concerns, and international trade. It outlines the interplay between government intervention in agriculture, provides insight into macroeconomic policy and its effects on agriculture, and examines the dynamic nature of agricultural trade and policy. ntroduction to Agricultural Economics is designed for students studying agricultural science, economics, and business. It serves as a comprehensive learning tool for courses that range from an introduction to agricultural economics to specialized subjects in international agricultural trade and policy at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
Celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2021, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is routinely heralded as one of the leading organs of global governance, yet it remains one of the least written about and least well understood of our major global institutions. This fully revised and updated second edition builds a well-rounded understanding of this crucial, though often neglected, institution. A range of clearly written chapters chart the origins and evolution of the organization, comprehend its influence, examine its current agenda, and evaluate its future prospects. Rather than the simplified characterizations of the OECD as a “rich-country’s club” or “think tank,” this book suggests that truly understanding the OECD and its significance to global governance requires it to be conceived as the entity it truly is: an international organization. New to this edition:Outlines the OECD’s origins and evolution, bringing its story fully up to dateConsiders the ‘OECD way’ of working, including the peer review processExamines competing views of the OECD’s influence over global governanceEvaluates the OECD reform and the organization’s future prospectsThis concise introduction continues to be vital reading for all students of international relations, politics and world history and affairs.

A Sermon Preached Before the Vice-patroness, Governesses and Guardians of the Asylum for Penitent Women, at the Chapel in Leeson-Street, Dublin, on Sunday the First of May By Richard Woodward
The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars. The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. Works collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century.++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. Secondary Privatization in Transition Economies

Secondary Privatization in Transition Economies

Privatization was the fundamental pillar of transition from plan to market in former socialist countries. But little is known about the fate of companies that were privatized in large scale privatization schemes such as mass privatization or management-employee buyouts. This is the first original study aiming to fill this gap. It assesses wholesale privatization schemes in three leading transition countries - the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovenia - in terms of the evolving concentration of ownership and relations to firm performance.
