The life of A. C. Gilbert was a magical one: accomplished magician, Olympic champion, inventor, toymaker, "The Man Who Saved Christmas." And now, for the first time ever, comes a children's book about this legendary man. The Magic of A. C. Gilbert, a 32-page picture book with colorful illustrations throughout, tells the inspiring story of the man who changed the toy industry as well as the way American viewed playthings. Written by Robert Young, award-winning author of twenty-eight books for children, this book is a realization of a long-time dream to celebrate the life of one of the most innovative Americans. Robert's journey with A. C. Gilbert began long ago when he received an Erector Set for Christmas. Thirty-five years later, after taking his fourth grade class to A. C. Gilbert's Discovery Village in Salem, Oregon, the idea for a book emerged. After that, it was only a matter of researching then writing, rewriting, and rewriting. The Magic of A. C. Gilbert is the result.

PrefaceA great accomplishment can only be achieved by a great man. The smoke of World War II, and Japan's invasion of China, has long ago dissipated, but many heroic stories remain. In the 1930's Japan's military was strong, and China was no rival. But the god of luck seemed to sympathize with China, sending a foreigner who had nothing to do with China - a retired American fighter pilot named Claire Lee Chennault. Chennault's time in the military was marked by difficulty, including chronic health issues, such as partial deafness caused by prolonged exposure to the noise of plane engines. Chennault loved flying. In the early 20th century, when bomber theory was main stream, Chennault followed his own unique insights and advocated pursuit aircraft. Sadly, his innovative thinking was ignored. Soong Mei Ling, wife of Chiang Kai-shek, China's supreme commander at the time, sent an invitation letter to the retired Chennault. This letter changed both Chennault's and China's destiny. This album of paintings is a tribute, dedicated to General Claire Lee Chennault, Flying Tigers, and all those who were willing to shed their blood and lay down their lives. It is because of their sacrifices and contributions, we may breathe in the air of democracy and freedom today. The Beauty and Praise of Altruists Foundation - Founder, Robert Young前言非常之功，必待非常之人。 作者與Los Angeles Mission, Youth Volunteer Corps, Katie's Krops, Chennault Aviation and Military Museum一直保持合作。

Daddy, Tell Me a Story was what Robert often heard from his three children, and in this book you can read the stories he told them. They are amazing stories of how God moved in Robert's life in seemingly impossible situations, such as when his home was flooded, when his job was at risk, when he had no money, or when he was sick. For example, at the beginning of Robert's career, his whole career took a positive turn after he had honoured God by being honest. We also read of situations where God used Robert to bless others and even prevent disasters. For example, two suitcase bombs in Germany did not explode because God warned Robert so he could pray. The stories cover many areas of life, and accompanied with a Bible verse, Robert tells the stories in a simple but moving way. These stories encourage us all to trust Jesus in every situation, no matter how impossible it seems and remind us that each of us has his own stories to tell.
