This book presents an analysis of how the grassroots movement of Guangchang Wu or ‘square dance’ in China has become a national phenomenon. Through oral narratives offering rich descriptions of lived encounters, the experiences of those involved in leading, organizing, teaching and learning Guangchang Wu are revealed. Through these narratives, this book serves to understand the leadership practices occurring and how this dance practice is deeply rooted in the complexities of China’s rapid economic development, acceleration of urbanisation, and the desire for a healthier and more communal lifestyle.

Following is an excerpt from the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Your Destiny Discovered" by Rose Martin.]I recommend Your Destiny Discovered by Rose Martin to every believer interested in understanding heavenly language and how God speaks to his people through the luminaries and the rest of his creation. It is also a great fit for anyone who wants to know more about the gifts and talents with which they were born to fulfil their life's purpose better. Your Destiny Discovered provides introductory teaching on astrology from a biblical perspective. It explains how the luminaries work harmoniously throughout one's life to accomplish God's purpose. The book identifies the characteristics that makeup one's personality and how they can be utilised to accomplish true destiny. I loved how the author took on a seemingly worldly concept and reverted it to its original roots. The book aligned astrology with God's word as it previously was, utilising various processes and research to arrive at accurate conclusions. It identified and discarded previous misconceptions about the practice. It was genuinely inspiring, seeing as the author received no moral support. The book included various materials for readers seeking an in-depth study of the history and scriptural foundation of astrology. Other useful materials, such as exercises, were provided to help readers better understand and practically apply the principles discussed. I loved how easy it was to comprehend the often misunderstood concepts. The author's presentation of each of them and their structure resulted in a seamless reading experience. I had no reservations about the book. I liked how perfectly emphasised each idea was. It inspired great interest and insight. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
The countries of the southern and eastern Mediterranean-- Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria--have undergone major turmoil in recent years, with civil war, occupation and uprising. Women, Dance and Revolution offers a highly original perspective on the political and cultural tensions through the experiences of contemporary dance practitioners from the region. It shows how these women--all established performers, choreographers and teachers--have responded to the changes brought about by the troubles. Through dance they engage in public protest and performance, endure violence and repression, and reveal new meanings of identity, gender and body politics. Their journeys of dance illuminate how, despite moments of disillusionment, objection and betrayal, being a woman and being a dancer can still mean many things and influence society in many ways in the Arab World.

Dance is intimately woven into the lives of the people of the Southern Mediterranean. It extends beyond studios and reaches into streets, homes, politics and families. It is expressed in a myriad of ways that reflect a cultural reality of hybrid, diverse and dynamic societies. But existing accounts of dance in the region have been subject to misinterpretation, succumbing to distorted, romanticized and exoticized impressions. Talking Dance - the Southern Mediterranean captures the true voices of dancers from Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco, as well as the other countries of the region. It provides a rich montage of stories that challenge existing representations of dance in the Southern Mediterranean, revealing the diverse cultural and political experience embodied in dance and emphasizing its central role in contemporary Middle East culture.
On 19 February 2008, Shannon Matthews disappeared while making her way home from a school swimming trip. The 999 call made by her mother, Karen, alerted the police to the nine-year-old's disappearance and sparked a massive search across the north of England. The story dominated newspaper headlines and television news for the weeks that followed and there was even an offer of a GBP50,000 reward for the person who found Shannon. 24 days later, Shannon was found, concealed in the base of a divan bed in a flat about a mile away from her home in West Yorkshire. The truth that unfolded over the subsequent weeks horrified the public, who had sympathised with the seemingly striken mother and even helped in the search for Shannon. It transpired that the abduction of the innocent girl had been a wicked plan dreamed up by her own mother in league with an accomplice, her stepfather's uncle, Michael Donovan. Donovan lured Shannon into his car with the promise of a trip to the fair. For almost three weeks, she was kept hidden in his home and given temazepam and travel sickness tables to subdue her. While Shannon suffered, her captors came up with a plan to release her in Dewsbury Market, and for Donovan to find her and claim the reward money. Shannon was finally discovered when neighbours told police that they had heard a child's footsteps coming from Donovan's flat.
