Os achados de n veis s ricos elevados de IL-6, TNF-α e TGF-β em mulheres pr -ecl mpticas (tanto no sangue materno como no sangue do cord o umbilical) sugerem um papel definitivo da resposta inflamat ria na patog nese da pr -ecl mpsia e, por conseguinte, podem ser teis no diagn stico de doentes com pr -ecl mpsia e na identifica o de risco cardiovascular futuro. Os agentes anti-inflamat rios podem ter lugar no tratamento da pr -ecl mpsia.

Lo studio stato condotto presso il Dipartimento di Biochimica e il Dipartimento di Ostetricia e Ginecologia, Pt. B. D. Sharma PGIMS, Rohtak, India. I livelli sierici di IL-6, TNF-α e TGF-β sono stati analizzati nel siero e nel sangue del cordone ombelicale di 20 gestanti normotese (gruppo I) e di 20 gestanti con preeclampsia (gruppo II). Il riscontro di elevati livelli sierici di IL-6, TNF-α e TGF-β nelle donne preeclamptiche (sia nel sangue materno che in quello del cordone ombelicale) suggerisce un ruolo certo della risposta infiammatoria nella patogenesi della preeclampsia e, pertanto, pu essere utile nella diagnosi delle pazienti con preeclampsia e nell'identificazione del futuro rischio cardiovascolare. Gli agenti antinfiammatori possono essere utilizzati nella gestione della preeclampsia.

Die Studie wurde in der Abteilung f r Biochemie und der Abteilung f r Geburtshilfe und Gyn kologie, Pt. B. D. Sharma PGIMS, Rohtak, Indien durchgef hrt. Die Serum-IL-6-, TNF-α- und TGF-β-Spiegel wurden im Serum und Nabelschnurblut von 20 normotensiven Schwangeren (Gruppe I) und 20 Schwangeren mit Pr eklampsie (Gruppe II) analysiert. Die hohen Serum-IL-6-, TNF-α- und TGF-β-Werte bei pr eklampsischen Frauen (sowohl im m tterlichen Blut als auch im Nabelschnurblut) deuten auf eine eindeutige Rolle der Entz ndungsreaktion in der Pathogenese der Pr eklampsie hin und k nnen daher bei der Diagnose von Patienten mit Pr eklampsie und der Ermittlung des k nftigen kardiovaskul ren Risikos n tzlich sein. Entz ndungshemmende Wirkstoffe k nnten bei der Behandlung der Pr eklampsie eine Rolle spielen.

Les agents anti-inflammatoires pourraient avoir leur place dans la prise en charge de la pr clampsie.

The study was carried out in Department of Biochemistry and Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Pt. B. D. Sharma PGIMS, Rohtak, India. Serum IL-6, TNF-α and TGF-β levels were analyzed in serum and cord blood of 20 normotensive pregnant (group I) and 20 pregnant women with preeclampsia (group II). Findings of high Serum IL-6, TNF-α and TGF-β in preeclamptic women (both in maternal and cord blood) suggest a definite role of inflammatory response in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia and therefore, may be useful in diagnosing patients with preeclampsia and identifying future cardiovascular risk. There may be a place of anti-inflammatory agents in management of preeclampsia.

The present study was carried out in patients with pre-eclampsia (Group I, n= 25), and also in age and parity matched normotensive pregnant women (Group IB n=25) and normal non-pregnant women (Group IA, n = 25) admitted in obstetrics and Gynaecology wards of the Medical College and Hospital between October 1993 to March 1994. The observations made in the three groups were analysed. The following results were obtained: - All the pre-eclamptic women (Group II) had proteinuria. Five women had complaints of headache, nausea, vomiting and syncope. Five patients had edema over the face and abdomen in addition to feet.- Mean values of systolic and diastolic BP recorded in preeclamptic women were 149.6 102.6 mmHg and in normotensive pregnant being 111.28 mmHg and 66.24 mmHg respectively.- In pre-eclamptic women uric acid level was increased (mean 7.68 mg%) than normotensive pregnant (mean 5.0 mg%). - In normotensive pregnant ( group I B) mean birth weight was 2500g and gestation age was 38.2 weeks (range 37 to 40 weeks).
