Control Strategies for Non-minimum Phase Systems

Control Strategies for Non-minimum Phase Systems

Manish Yadav; Ashutosh K. Giri; Stepan Ozana

Springer Nature Switzerland AG
2026
Nidottu
This book provides overview of numerous control schemes for non-minimum phase and dead-time systems. The inverse response arises from the conflict of two first-order systems with opposite effects. This feature of the system is known as non-minim phase (NMP) process. The opposite response initiates from odd multiplicity of NMP open-loop zeros. As a result, the controller shows a limited gain margin and bandwidth, implying a robustness restriction. If the user tries to increase the gain, system sometimes gets unstable. Thus, the fundamental notion of providing a suitable balance control theory can potentially improve the performance of those processes. This book is useful to researchers working in the field of control system. The book provides comprehensive philosophy of different control schemes used for the non-minimum phase zeros and dead-time systems. The researcher working on non-minimum phase zeros can find innovative algorithms and novel schemes. Further, they can design innovative control schemes by referring to the content of chapters and specifically tuning after encountering NMP zeros and delay terms.
Non Gaussian State Estimation and the Maximum Correntropy Approach

Non Gaussian State Estimation and the Maximum Correntropy Approach

Rahul Radhakrishnan; Stepan Ozana

TAYLOR FRANCIS LTD
2025
sidottu
This monograph aims to present the recent advances in state estimation, in terms of relaxing the conventional assumption that probability densities remain Gaussian. The book explains how MCC is integrated into the conventional Bayesian estimation framework and their implementation to real-life problems. Some key points discussed in the book are-Reviews well-established non-Gaussian estimation methods including applications of techniques Covers relaxation of gaussian assumption Discusses challenges in formulating non-liner non-Gaussian estimation framework Illustrates the applicability of the algorithms mentioned to real-life problems Explores derivation of non-linear non-Gaussian estimation framework based on maximum correntropy criterion This book is aimed at researchers and graduate students in electrical engineering, robotics, and dynamic systems.

Adaptive Hybrid Control of Quadrotor Drones

Adaptive Hybrid Control of Quadrotor Drones

Nihal Dalwadi; Dipankar Deb; Stepan Ozana

SPRINGER VERLAG, SINGAPORE

This book discusses the dynamics of a tail-sitter quadrotor and biplane quadrotor-type hybrid unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and, based on it, various nonlinear controllers design like backstepping control (BSC), ITSMC (Integral Terminal Sliding Mode Control), and hybrid controller (BSC + ITSMC). It discusses single and multiple observer-based control strategies to handle external disturbances like wind gusts and estimate states. It covers the dynamics of slung load with a biplane quadrotor and a control architecture to handle the effect of partial rotor failure with wind gusts acting on it. An anti-swing control to prevent damage to the slung load and a deflecting surface-based total rotor failure compensation strategy to prevent damage to the biplane quadrotor are also discussed in this book. The monograph will be helpful for undergraduate and post-graduate students as well as researchers in their advanced studies.
