Baxter's ability to combine wildly divergent narrative threads has become a trademark of his writing and has been seen to its best effect in the previous two novels from this sequence. TRANSCENDENT, with its melding of a near future narrative that carries a terrible warning about the post-oil and post-global warming world and a narrative thread that tours the fantastically varied diverse species that mankind has become in the impossibly distant future is an example of Baxter at his best. At once a cautionary tale of what we are capable of destroying and a celbration of what we could become this is the capstone to Baxter's best series to date. In TRANSCENDENT we find out what happened to the children of the Poole brothers (from COALESCENT) and what will happen to mankind.

In the sequel to Time's Eye, a modern-day woman hurtled into the midst of the turmoil stumbles upon a mysterious portal that links back to the Firstborn, omnipotent beings responsible for the upheaval of history and the creators of the notorious black monolith of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Reprint.
The mind-bending study of human evolution that began with Coalescent continues with a journey to the far future, a world in which a far-flung human race has perfected war as a way of life as they confront the deadly threat of an implacable alien foe. Reprint.

A stunning new companion series to 2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY from the world's most important living SF writer and his acknowledged heir.
Lumoava mammuttisaaga jatkuu! Trilogian toisessa osassa peloton ja urhea mammuttiuros pelastaa klaaninsa - Pitkähammas jää elämään legendoissa.
The beginning of a new trilogy from perhaps the most significant SF writer of the 21st century and co-author with Terry Pratchett of the Long Earth books.
Siperia. Lauman nuori johtaja Hopeaturkki joutuu kohtaamaan elämänsä suurimman haasteen. Mammuttien näkökulmasta kerrottu tarina on taidokkaasti kirjoitettu eepos elämän synnystä, rohkeudesta ja luonnon voimasta. Mammutteja laajasti tutkinut englantilainen Stephen Baxter nivoo tieteellisistä tosiasioista ja mytologiasta suuren tarinan esihistorialliseen usvaan peittyneistä jättiläisistä. Mammutit on 1990-luvun Ruohometsän kansa. Hopeaturkki on Mammutit-trilogian ensimmäinen osa. “Kiehtovinta luettavaa ovat mammuttien saagat eli tarinat lajin menneisyydestä.” – Lassi Kurkijärvi, Aamulehti “Uskomaton punos tietoa ja mytologiaa mammuteista, samaan aikaan kiehtova ja liikuttava kirja. – Kirkus Review
The natural heir to Arthur C. Clarke dramatises the epic story of evolution. A novel that tells the story of life on Earth...
"One of the best SF writers in the business . . . Manifold: Origin is] filled with marvelous scientific speculations, strange events, novel concepts, and an awe-inspiring sense of the wonders of the universe."--Science Fiction Chronicle In the year 2015, astronaut Reid Malenfant is flying over the African continent, intent on examining a mysterious glowing construct in Earth's orbit. But when the very fabric of the sky tears open, spilling living creatures to the ground and pulling others inside (including his wife, Emma), Malenfant's quest to uncover the unknown becomes personal. While desperately searching to discover what happened to the woman he loves, Malenfant embarks upon an adventure to the very fount of human development . . . on earth and beyond.
"As always, Stephen] Baxter plays with space and time with consummate skill. . . . He continues to be one of the leading writers of hard science fiction, and one of the most thought-provoking as well."--Science Fiction Chronicle The year is 2020. Fueled by an insatiable curiosity, Reid Malenfant ventures to the far edge of the solar system, where he discovers a strange artifact left behind by an alien civilization: A gateway that functions as a kind of quantum transporter, allowing virtually instantaneous travel over the vast distances of interstellar space. What lies on the other side of the gateway? Malenfant decides to find out. Yet he will soon be faced with an impossible choice that will push him beyond terror, beyond sanity, beyond humanity itself. Meanwhile on Earth the Japanese scientist Nemoto fears her worst nightmares are coming true. Startling discoveries reveal that the Moon, Venus, even Mars once thrived with life--life that was snuffed out not just once but many times, in cycles of birth and destruction. And the next chilling cycle is set to begin again . . . "When the travel bug bites and usual planets don't excite, perhaps it's time to burst the bounds of this old solar system and really see the sights. . . . Baxter's expansive new novel is just the ticket."--The Washington Times "Breathtaking in its originality and scope."--The Washington Post
"And everywhere the Humans went, they found life ..." This dazzling future history, winner of the 2000 Philip K. Dick Award, is the most ambitious and exciting since Asimov's classic Foundation saga. It tells the story of Humankind -- all the way to the end of the Universe itself. Here, in luminous and vivid narratives spanning five million years, are the first Poole wormholes spanning the solar system; the conquest of Human planets by Squeem; GUTships that outrace light; the back-time invasion of the Qax: the mystery and legacy of the Xeelee, and their artifacts as large as small galaxies; photino birds and Dark Matter; and the Ring, where Ghost, Human, and Xeelee contemplate the awesome end of Time. Stephen Baxter is the most acclaimed and accomplished of a brilliant new generation of authors who are expanding the vision of science fiction and taking itto a new golden age.
In the most exciting SF collaboration ever, Arthur C. Clarke and his universally acknowledged heir Stephen Baxter pool talent, fantastic ideas, unprecedented cosmic insights as well as page-turning plotting skills and breathlessly good writing to produce the most awesome novel of the future since 3001.
"Reading Manifold: Time is like sending your mind to the gym for a brisk workout. If you don't feel both exhausted and exhilirated when you're done, you haven't been working hard enough."--The New York Times Book Review The year is 2010. More than a century of ecological damage, industrial and technological expansion, and unchecked population growth has left the Earth on the brink of devastation. As the world's governments turn inward, one man dares to envision a bolder, brighter future. That man, Reid Malenfant, has a very different solution to the problems plaguing the planet: the exploration and colonization of space. Now Malenfant gambles the very existence of time on a single desperate throw of the dice. Battling national sabotage and international outcry, as apocalyptic riots sweep the globe, he builds a spacecraft and launches it into deep space. The odds are a trillion to one against him. Or are they? "A staggering novel If you ever thought you understood time, you'll be quickly disillusioned when you read Manifold: Time."--Sir Arthur C. Clarke
