A Cross-Cultural Psychological Assessment Manual

A Cross-Cultural Psychological Assessment Manual

Alan Raphael; R. Lauren Miller; Theresa Jones; Charles Golden

TAYLOR FRANCIS LTD

sidottu
This user-friendly manual provides a cross-cultural psychological assessment battery, including projective methods. Authors outline a new, empirically validated, reliable system, which seeks to update the scoreable and interpretable factors and entwine commonly respected “tried and true” graphomotor tests, thereby maximizing their efficacy in the assessment of significant psychological traits in children and adults. Because of its use as a gender fair, culture free, language free testing method, it will be a valuable asset in all areas of current psychological assessment. The CCPAB test takes approximately 20 to 40 minutes to administer, and does not require any administration materials that most practitioners would not have readily available. The CCPAB can be used by evaluators on its own or in conjunction with other psychological and neuropsychological test data, as well as by mental health treatment providers seeking a quick and accurate way to assess the psychological functioning of individuals aged six years and older. Multiple appendices contain information on scoring criteria, scoring keys, and a wealth of sample questions which will also be a useful resource for evaluators. This manual is appropriate for users ranging from graduate-level students in training and supervision to even the most skilled assessment psychologists for quick and valid assessment of a wide range of clients.

Prayer 101 is both an introduction and a complete course on reaching out to God for His mercy or strength. Teresa A. Jones addresses seemingly simple questions like What is Prayer? but delves deeply into why and how we seek intercession from heaven for love and guidance. Using real-life examples, Jones applies the lessons of the Bible and dissects the intricacies of prayers we sometimes repeat from rote memorization. With a complete vocabulary of the elements of prayer, and reflections following each chapter, readers will find themselves drawn into more spiritual communications. In the Scriptures, God repeatedly called his people to pray and He continues to call us today. This connection with God can take many different forms; seeking, talking, listening, meditating, crying out, interceding, and more. Not only are there several forms for prayer, but there are also many ways of understanding these very words and of putting them into practice.

Raising the Dust explores the relationship between human and ecological health through the lens of African traditional medicine, as practiced in the south of Malawi. The book employs an ethnographic methodology using the primary methods of semi-structured interviews and participant observation. The fieldwork for the research was conducted in the Mulanje Mountain Biosphere and the findings are presented as a narrative exploration of insider and outsider positions, in this context. The conceptual framework for the book encompasses a broad range of ecological ideas, focussing mainly on traditional ecological knowledge and radical ecology. The holistic theoretical framework for the book emerges in a grounded way from out of the fieldwork experience. The book is written in plain language and will appeal to anyone interested in holistic health outlooks, particularly cross-cultural health and wellbeing narratives.
