Die vorliegende Untersuchung behandelt die religiose Sprache und ihre konfessionsspezifischen Varianten in der deutschsprachigen Verkundigung der Gegenwart methodisch in zweifacher Weise. Wortsemantisch wird der religiose Wortschatz in Predigten untersucht. Satzsemantisch werden zum einen Pradikationen untersucht, die Aussagen uber Gott darstellen, zum anderen werden die Pradikationen untersucht, die Aussagen uber das Verhaltnis des Menschen zu Gott darstellen. Die untersuchten Predigten aus der Zeit nach 1945 zeigen einen anhaltenden Ruckgang religioser Sprachverwendung. Traditionell-religiose Sprachelemente werden weniger verwendet als in Texten der Vergangenheit. Dabei ist nicht zu erkennen, dass sie in vergleichbarem Umfang durch eine einheitliche -neue- religiose Sprache substituiert wurden. Konfessionsspezifische Verwendungsvarianten sind nur begrenzt nachweisbar; traditionelle Varianten werden zunehmend nivelliert."
