In accordance with Article 102 of the Charter and the relevant General Assembly Resolutions, every treaty and international agreement registered or filed and recorded with the Secretariat since 1946 is published in the United Nations Treaty Series. At present, the collection includes about 30,000 treaties reproduced in their authentic languages, together with translations into English and French, as necessary. The Treaty Series, where treaties are published in the chronological order of registration, also provides details about their subsequent history (i.e., participation in a treaty, reservations, amendments, termination, etc.). Comprehensive Indices covering 50 to volume-lots are published separately. A Standing Order service is available for the Series and out to of to print volumes are available on microfiche.

The Committee for Programme and Coordination held its organizational session (1st meeting) on 26 April 2012 and its substantive session from 4 to 29 June 2012 at United Nations Headquarters. It held a total of 23 meetings and a number of informal consultations.

In the wake of the First World War, at the Peace Conference at Versailles, US President Wilson called for the creation of a League of Nations for the purpose of affording mutual guarantees of political independence and territorial integrity to great and small nations alike. For the first time, conflicts between nations were a matter of global concern. Numerous key areas - social, economic and statistics, health, labour - were dealt with either directly by the League or indirectly by its specialised agencies. The League's lifetime (1919-1947) saw the creation of bodies that would be at the origin of the International Labour Organization, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the World Health Organization and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Their achievements were manifold and though some of them were "revived" as United Nations offices or specialised agencies after the Second World War, they were inherited from the League of Nations.

In this issue, Demographic Observatory presents estimates and projections of the population of the 20 countries of Latin America, for the period 1950-2100. The figures contained in this publication are a revision of those presented in the Demographic Observatory No. 11 April 2011. This time, the projections are presented for a longer period (up to 2100 instead of 2050) and were prepared by CELADE-Population Division of ECLAC. The methodological notes of this Observatory, along with a brief description of the methodology used for the estimates and projections presented here, provide an account of country data sources considered. As usual, it includes a chapter that discusses the estimated and projected population trends. This time we examine the consequences, in population size and age structure in the long term that reaches a fertility rate below replacement level and a steady decline in mortality.

Building and strengthening the rule of law in developing nations, countries in transition or emerging from armed conflict, is a central focus of UN work. As a result, there is a growing demand to better understand that delivery of justice in conflict and post-conflict situations and the impact of developments in this area. The United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, in cooperation with other UN departments, agencies, funds and programmes, have developed an instrument to monitor changes in the performance and fundamental characteristics of criminal justice institutions in conflict and post-conflict situations, the UN Rule of Law Indicators. This Guide describes how to implement and measure these indicators. It provides step-by-step instructions on how to implement the instrument in a conflict or post-conflict setting. It is meant for first-time users as well as those with previous experience.

This book compiles selected speeches by former Secretary-General Dag Hammarksjèld that focus on the role of the United Nations, the place of the Secretary-General and the nature of the international civil servant. It is issued in commemoration of 50 years since the tragic death in a plane crash of Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjèld in September 1961.
