The discipline includes preventive and interceptive procedures to maintain, regain and preserve the arch space. Even today, the science of orthodontics in children with deciduous dentition has always been seen with an eye of speculation. There are two schools of thoughts, one is pro-early orthodontics and other is standing in opposition. However, it has been documented in literature that early intervention has surplus advantages when weighed against the limitations. Many authors believe that early treatment of malocclusion precludes the need for later orthodontic treatment. Voluminous publications support the fact the corrections of dental and skeletal discrepancies at a young age marks an invincible difference in the appearance and growth of developing child. So, this is a comprehensive review of all the published literature to highlight preventive orthodontic considerations.
