A pleasant smile is an expression of joy. Today people are more concerned with their smile, the way they feel about their smile and its effect on other people. It is mandatory on the part of the dentist to preserve, create or enhance a pleasing smile when restoring function through restorative procedures. The key to successful treatment lies in establishing harmony between components of the face with those of the oral cavity. The objective of cosmetic dentistry must be to provide the maximum improvement in esthetics with the minimum trauma to the dentition or reduction of tooth structure as required in all ceramic and metal ceramic restoration. Porcelain laminate veneer restoration has a unique position in today dental practice. Increase awareness of veneers and their potential has sparked the numerous technical variations and there has been lot of improvement regarding the technical and in the material aspects.

Rehabilitation goals are focused on the restorative, supportive, palliative and preventive aspects of treatment. Advanced cancers or trauma destroying structures, which may include soft and hard tissues of jaws, facial skeleton, oral tissues, lips, checks, nose and eyes, can affect the maxillofacial region. The defect may result in oroantral, oronasal, oronasal-orbital communication. The primary objective of rehabilitation is to preserve and restore the function of speech and swallow, preludes to the image restoration and boosts confidence of the patients so they can return to society; who have suffered the ravages of disfigurement. As we all know, every human being has the right to look like a normal human being, whatever the circumstances. In this book, I have tried to solve the challanges faced by the maxillofacial prosthodontist while making an impact on the prosthesis. Rehabilitation of such patients is quiet challenging and requires multidisciplinary team for comprehensive care and optimal post treatment functional outcomes.
