An intense drama of love, deception, jealousy and destruction, Othello is arguably Shakespeare's most topical and accessible tragedy. Part of the Macmillan Collector’s Library; a series of stunning, clothbound, pocket sized classics with gold foiled edges and ribbon markers. These beautiful books make perfect gifts or a treat for any book lover. This edition is illustrated throughout by Sir John Gilbert, and includes an introduction by Ned Halley. In this tale of suspicion and betrayal, Desdemona's love for her husband Othello, the Moor, transcends racial prejudice. But his trusted ensign, the envious Iago, conspires to devastate their lives. The play raises uncomfortable and pertinent questions about both racial identity and sexuality, as Othello and Desdemona's relationship becomes the voyeuristic site of Iago's attempt to destroy them.
When the aloof King Lear has his thrown stripped from him by those he trusts, him and his court fool wander the English countryside looking for meaning in the things around them. Strange allies in the King of France come to give Lear his throne back but it may already be too late for Lear and his family.
A powerful general and proconsul in the Roman republic is given absolute authority and given the Roman equivalent of kingship. Certain senators take offense at such arrogance of Caesar and set a plan in motion to assassinate him on the Ides of March. When the plan is executed, the people and Caesar's closest friend Marc Antony turn against the conspirators and wage a civil war against them.
‘Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, But bears it out even to the edge of doom’Sonnets are for romantics, starry-eyed lovers and ardent hearts. And Shakespeare’s sonnets are the best ever written. But this is why they are also for cynics, for star-crossed lovers and for those who know the anguish of unrequited love. Some of them are written to a young man, some of them to a woman. And although the poems are full of mystery – why did Shakespeare write them, what was his sexuality? – each one speaks to us from across the centuries of love, hate and the intensity of being alive. Includes exclusive content: In the 'Backstory' you can find a short, handy, funny guide to everything you might want to know about Shakespeare and his sonnets.‘This is a crazy, all-consuming, feverish and sweaty love; love, in all its uncut, full-strength intensity; an adolescent love’ Don Paterson, Guardian

At CBy, we're avid readers ourselves- so our ethos is to make good, honestly advertised books that we'd buy and read ourselves- not just to maximise our profits. That's why we have a 4 point checklist of guaranteed quality- and if you think this book doesn't meet one of them, or you're dissatisfied for any other reason, we'll give a refund via Amazon, no questions asked. We guarantee that this book: Comes with size 11 text- some companies like to scrimp a bit and use small text. We know how hard it is to read books like that, so we use a standard size 11 serif font that's been designed for legibility throughout. Comes in a standard size that looks great on your bookshelf- sometimes, we accidentally buy books that have been sized like childrens' books to save money. That's why we're upfront- this particular book is sized 5.5" by 8.5". Comes with a beautifully designed glossy cover, unlike anything on the market. We hate books that look like they've come from a time capsule- so our team of designers have come up with a timeless design that's true to Julius Caesar's hertiage. We love it, but take a look at it yourself in the flesh- again, if you don't like it, simply return it, no questions asked. Comes with the complete original text from Shakespeare's First Folio (how many publishing companies reference that in their Amazon description )- we're so confident of this that we've even added a reproduction of the title page. We hate books that miss things out- and we've carefully proofread Julius Caesar to make sure that's not the case. We love this book, and we hope that you will too. Thanks for considering CBy's range of classics- and why not visit our website- it's www.cbypublishing.co.uk. You all did love him once, --not without cause: What cause withholds you, then, to mourn for him?-- O judgment, thou art fled to brutish beasts, And men have lost their reason --Bear with me; My heart is in the coffin there with C sar, And I must pause till it come back to me. Set at the birth of the Roman Empire, William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Julius Caesar is a gripping historical play full of drama and betrayal, exploring how principles and a murder with good intentions can slide into malice and civil war. Applauded as one of his best plays but also as one of his most morally ambiguous, the complexity of the protagonists have wowed many an audience, as they show how ambition can lead to death.

This is the text of the 1623 printing of the first folio. The original spelling and punctuation are completely intact. I have made two minor changes. First, I have capitalized and spelled out the character names. Samp. And 'tis knowne I am a pretty peece of flesh becomes SAMPSON. And 'tis knowne I am a pretty peece of flesh. The second change is that I have put the prose lines into prose form. If there was any possibility that a prose line could scan, however awkwardly, I have left the verse-like form of the line as it appears in the folio. Again, the spelling and punctuation of the 1623 first folio text are entirely intact. If you enjoy this copy of Romeo and Juliet, please take a moment to review the book online.
More troubled and troubling than King Henry IV Part 1, the play continues the story of King Henry’s decline and Hal’s reform. Though Part 2 echoes the structure of the earlier play, it is a darker and more unsettling world, in which even Falstaff’s revelry is more tired and cynical, and the once-merry Hal sloughs off his tavern companions to become King Henry V. James C. Bulman's authoritative edition provides a wealth of incisive commentary on this complex history play.
