The Existence And Attributes Of God; The AuthorityAnd Doctrine Of The Scriptures; The InstitutionsAnd Ordinances Of The Gospel. Christian Theology should be studied diligently. It requires at least as much application as mathematics, languages. or any other department of study. Christian Theology should be studied patiently. The subjects presented involve numerous and great difficulties which can be overcome only by earnest, patient, persevering research. It should be studied with faith. As before intimated, if anyone needs active piety and faith, it is the theological student. Much of what he learns he must take on the authority of God, and by faith. It should be studied prayerfully. All our powers and attainments are very limited. The study of Christian 'theology is of the highest importance in disciplining, enlarging, and liberalizing the mind.

Genealogies of the Earliest Free Will Baptist Ministers in Ohio
As a church historian I'll always enjoy the time I spend on ministers or churches when I am doing research on them. One of my neighbors, has a name that in with Haning, and in our discussion I learned he was from Southeast Ohio where much of the early Free Will Baptist work was established. In our conversation I told him that a minister whose name was Ira Haning encouraged to one of his deacons by the name of Nehemiah Atwood to fund the beginning of Rio Grande College in 1876. I began to research his name and found out that he was actually kin to the minister and two other early Free Will Baptist standouts, namely David Dudley an early church planter, and Joseph Mauck who became president of Hillsdale College in Michigan. This was at the beginning of what would be days and weeks researching other early Free Will Baptist ministers in Ohio. What an interesting work this was as I began to get more acquainted with those who established the foundation of the work in Ohio. May I remind you the state of Ohio was a wilderness when these churches were being built and hardship was ever present. Thus a book of genealogies and information was born. I could not take what I have absorbed without sharing this information so others will know what I have learned. Please enjoy this book as much as I have enjoyed learning about so many that are contained herein.

Dear Delois: This is a strange letter. I never planned to write to you after your death. But your leaving has left a painful hole in my life. I don't like the empty grieving feeling I have inside. I miss you. I miss it all-your voice, your presence, your laughter, your raising your eyebrows. You know what else I miss? You're dreaming out loud. I miss our dreams and the future we won't have here together. I feel cheated. This was not the time for you to die. Or it wasn't the time I thought you should. I sincerely thought that I would go first, due the many operations and months of recuperation. Now I can't thank you for the 12 years of caregiving and your expressions of love penetrating through the grimace of pain I could see in your face. I hope one of your angel assistants will pass this note on to you with my thanks. I've wanted you to come to me, and I wish I could come to you. I don't like being alone. Oh, I know there are others around, but they aren't you It's been months. I'm learning to rest in the hope that someday, some way, we will see each other again. I'm taking a big step now. I am taking baby steps to go on with my life. I feel strange saying this to you, but you went away, you were taken from me, but I have been holding on to you. Now I need to live life again. I have our history together, memories together, and a rich life because of you. Thank you. I'm letting you go, but I will never leave you. I will have to let you go many more times. I know that. I miss you. I love you. You are never forgotten. ---Alto

In the book of Numbers we have a record of probably the largest business meeting that was ever convened. Twelve men had been selected to view the land God had given His chosen that He had delivered from Egypt. After viewing the cities for their strength, the land for its productiveness, and the people as for quantity. They returned with their report. Ten saw giants in the land. Only two saw what they could do. Caleb's record is in Numbers 13:30, "Let us go up at once and possess it for we are able to overtake it." We need to make a comparison of this scenario of our time.

This edition has 1394 burial locations covering New Mexico to Wisconsin from one of the oldest denominations in the United States and covers a vast range of ministers who set the pace for growth and change where they were. In the north this movement was abolitionist and active in the Underground Railroad and began training schools to teach the freeman as they came from the south after the Civil War. They were stronger than the southern groups in establishing colleges and active in government. However today the majority of the denominations existence is made up of the southern movement and remnants of the northern group. But every territory had its own story to tell. This book will share these messages. I have found the history of every minister fascinating. I know you will also. This book represents the National Association, Randall Movement that united with the Northern Baptists in 1911, the Stone, John-Thomas, John Wheeler Assn's, North Carolina Original Free Will Baptists and unidentifiable affiliations.

Many have made great inroads in the shaping of the American religions. Some as great orators, some as great theologians, some as great writers. Some influenced the founding of denominations without any education. Such are those in this book. These represent those who have died after leaving their mark in history allowing our ability to know about them and their beliefs. It is not a book of endorsement, but a gathering of information about the founders, who in many cases left a large denomination or following. There are many founders that I could not find who are buried in history so their group is not found herein. I hope those recorded will enlighten you more about each one.

I was born five miles east of nowhere and had little hope of ever seeing the vast beauty much of the world had to offer. The first 16 years of my ministry was spent as a local church pastor. The last pastorate was in Joplin, Missouri where I met the National Marketing Director of a large publishing company from Wheaton, Illinois that changed the direction of my life. My first jet flight was one stormy Monday morning as I flew from Joplin to Chicago for my first meeting with the company heads. The rest is history and that move gave me the training and abilities I did not get in college. That trip was the beginning of many, with the next 33 years seeing me active in Teacher Training workshops, Christian Education and Interpersonal Relationship seminars in this country and abroad presenting more than 1100. I have traveled, spoken, been used as a consultant, or conducted seminars in 69 denominations and countless independent churches in all 50 of the States with the exception of Nebraska and North Dakota. I performed various roles in all the provinces of Canada, but five, and in 38 other foreign countries. Most places were visited numerous times. At this writing I am 80 years of age, and have seen far more change I would have ever dreamed.

In August 1844, members of the local community of Freewill Baptists resolved to organize their denomination's first collegiate institution. After gathering donations, they established Hillsdale College as Michigan Central College in Spring Arbor, Michigan on December 4, 1844. Although religiously affiliated, the college remained officially nonsectarian. Hillsdale no longer has any denominational affiliation. However, Hillsdale still expect students to follow moral tenets of Christianity as commonly understood in the Christian tradition. A unique feature of the campus is the Statues of Liberty Walk, a walkway lined with depictions of well-known leaders and icons of Western culture. These include George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, and Margaret Thatcher. A statue of Ronald Reagan was dedicated on October 7, 2011, in the centennial year of his birth. Reagan spoke at the college in 1977, stating, "Hillsdale deserves the appreciation of all who labor for freedom. Hillsdale's charter prohibits any discrimination based on race, religion, or sex, and the College has been credited as the first American college to prohibit this type of discrimination in a charter.

This book is about the personal lives, the successes of the presidents of the United States, their religions, and dangers which many of them had plotted against them. As per their religion 12 of them were Episcopalians, nine Presbyterian, five Methodists, two Dutch reformed, two were Disciples of Christ, two Baptists and two Congregationalist and others of different movements. Assassination attempts and plots on Presidents of the United States have been numerous: more than 30 attempts to kill sitting and former presidents and presidents-elect are known. Four sitting presidents were killed, all of them by gunshot: Abraham Lincoln (the 16th President), James A. Garfield (the 20th President), William McKinley (the 25th President) and John F. Kennedy (the 35th President). Two presidents were injured in attempted assassinations, also by gunshot: Theodore Roosevelt (the 26th President; although not in office at the time) and Ronald Reagan (the 40th President). Although the historian James W. Clarke has suggested that most American assassinations were politically motivated actions, carried out by rational men, not all such attacks have been undertaken for political reasons. Some attackers had questionable mental stability, and a few were judged legally insane.

This story is about two people; myself and my mentor and military hero. Though he has passed to his heavenly reward I wanted to remember him in this book with some of his earthly rewards. I could've never become as blessed as I have if it had not been for Lawnie Coffman who took me under his wings when I was a young teenager. Aleksandra Solzhenitsyn said,"If we don't know our own history, we will simply have to endure all the same mistakes, sacrifices, and absurdities all over again." He became my hero when I was 14 years old and seldom does a day go by that I am not reminded of he him or something he said that was coaching me toward a better life. The teaching and training he gave to me has governed my life now for 66 years. I will tell a part of my story first and then give credit to the man, his military service, his family, and the many that surrounded his life. One of the interesting things is his genealogy has roots in the Amish and Mennonites who did not believe in bearing arms yet he fought for the freedom of his homeland and parts of Europe.

Cultural issues, military espionage and suspense line the road. Yet it is obvious that the "sacrifice" of serving the Lord is a privilege. This is a must read....and I anxiously await the sequel. Elizabeth C. Hodges, Ed. S., Executive Director, Women Nationally Active for Christ This a story that has it all - romance, intrigue, betrayal, challenge, and beauty. From the descriptions of places Livingston visited, it is apparent that Loveless is well-traveled, and that he also has first-hand knowledge of many aspects of life. This is the story of a military pilot whose life takes a U-turn, and he is enriched by the circumstances in which he finds himself. The characters are well-developed and relatable. The storyline is captivating, and in the process, a clear message of salvation and God's guiding hand is presented. I highly recommend this book and believe every Christian will find it encouraging as well as entertaining. Judy Puckett, Writer, OklahomaThis book by Alton Loveless will bless, encourage and inspire every reader to passionately pursue Christ and to read everything that has been written about our Lord and Savior. This book is going to touch many lives and inspire someone just like me.-Dr. Stan Toler, Best-selling author

Two of the earliest Free Baptist ministers and writers that wrote on the subject of the Freedom of the Will were Enoch Mack, M. D. and Dr. Ransom Dunn. Mack in 1833 signed the Declaration of Sentiments put forth by the Anti-Slavery Society movement and became attracted to the Free Baptists because of their anti-slavery sentiments and became an early contributor to the Morning Star. In 1835 William Burr suggested he move to Dover, New Hampshire where he became the pastor of the First Free Will church. He later became the Corresponding Secretary of the Foreign and Home Mission Societies but still was an editorial contributor of the Morning Star. Dunn, was also an early pastor in Dover at the Washington Ave. Free Baptist Church which still remains today as the Dover Baptist Church. He was known for his leadership as an educator at Rio Grande College and Geauga Seminary both in Ohio and Hillsdale College in Michigan. He was an excellent speaker and notable writer. Both contributed to the Freedom of the Will in this book as separate writings.
