Brent Abell

The idea was simple: Gather a group of some of the best writers in the apocalyptic genre, give them parameters for a story, and let them go. That's how Middletown Apocalypse came into being. The first book was an experiment...me wanting to show the world how individual writer voices can take on a single story and make it unique. And it worked. ...exactly how I'd expected. Mu. Ha. Ha. The reading public was surprised how well it worked. I was not. Why? Because there is some seriously good talent in the genre. Talent that could pull off what most would have normally considered an impossible feat. And here we are again. This time around we have some new writers, a new setting, a new premise (building slightly from the first), but the same idea...a collection of talent setting out to illustrate not only the power of "story", but the power of the writer's voice. I hope you enjoy the second edition of Middletown Apocalypse.

It is the end of the world as we know it. Humanity has fallen victim to the ravages of a virus that leaves nothing in its wake, but the dead and the undead. The survivors are scattered and splintered in a new world where the living are hunted and must fight for the ability to exist. The undead are legion and they are spreading. Florida is a hotbed of the zombie infection. The dead are exhibiting strange behaviors and are part of a southern migration complicating life for those who fight to survive. George Harrison is one of those survivors. He will journey across an apocalyptic wasteland where sometimes the dead aren't the only enemy. Set in Armand Rosamilia's Dying Days world, Dying Days: Death Sentence weaves new threads into the sprawling Dying Days tapestry and opens new doors into the dead new world.

What happens when a metal band gets caught up in the apocalypse? Even better, what happens when you give that same scenario to twelve of the genre's hottest authors? Rosamilia, Besser, Abell, Buda, Shelman, Silverman, Stallcup, Wallen, Johnesee, Wilburn, Welmerink, Madron ... each author was put to the task to take the apocalyptic story up to eleven. 1. 12. 11. Do the math. It all works out to rock and roll; zombie style.

The moon hangs full and bright in the night sky above. Below, the people scurry in their own worlds ignoring the shadows around them. Something lurks in those shadows, a wickedness hiding in each person's heart. What are their stories? How deep does the wickedness go in those walking around in the day and the night? Collected here are 18 wicked tales that examine how wicked people truly are and how when confronted by our darkest fears, we find our greatest hope. This volume brings Brent Abell's dark fiction together for the first time into one tome. What will you find when you look into your heart? Beware and lock your doors, the wicked ones are coming for you...
