Instead of forcing ideas that were not designed specifically for you, this book challenges conventional wisdom and examines 15 paradoxes to help you find your own unique path, depending on the specific season of your life. Crossing Between Worlds provides the much needed scaffolding to align your natural tendencies, nurture your unique gifts and allow yourself to move, and be moved. towards a new world so that you get to share this gift with others. Drawing from his teaching and clinical experience, Daryl provides a personalisable roadmap filled with poignant anecdotes, practical wisdom, and persuasive strategies for navigating life's seemingly contradictory forces (e.g., Should I focus on the present, or the future? Should I learn to say "Yes," or "No").

This book is a step-by-step guide to using deliberate practice as an individualized professional development plan for psychotherapists to improve the quality of their service using client outcome data. Deliberate practice is a systematic approach for improving psychotherapy outcomes, one clinician at a time. This step-by-step guide to deliberate practice demonstrates how to collect and use client outcome data to create an individualized professional development plan to improve the quality of your service. Your goal is to help more of your psychotherapy clients get better. For those who do realize gains, your goal is to help them experience a greater degree of improvement as a result of working with you. In this book you will learn how to conduct routine outcome measurements to gather data from your own practice. Detailed instructions and examples walk you through the process of determining your baseline performance, identifying and addressing your strengths and deficits as a practitioner, and assessing your progress. Richly-drawn case studies and stories from the business world and popular culture illustrate how research from the field of expert performance offers a different paradigm for professional development that departs from the field amp rsquo s traditional emphasis on learning therapy models and techniques.

This book is a comprehensive description of the structure of the prosody of Singapore English. Using the Prosodic Hierarchy as a framework, each layer of the structure of Singapore English is described in detail. The smallest level described in this work is the syllable, the domain in which the majority of segmental processes occur in Singapore English. The second level is the prosodic word domain, where there is a high tone anchored to the final syllable and a low tone anchored to the left edge, and these tones are shown in this book to be recursive. These tones are independent of stress, which is argued to not exist in Singapore English. The third level is the intonational phrase, where the final syllable carries the boundary tone of the entire intonational phrase, affecting the tones of final particles. There is also a phrase-initial boost on the first prosodic word of the intonational phrase. Markedly absent is any intermediate phrase or domain between the word and intonational phrase, which is argued to not exist in this book.

Many clients take the first step to see a psychotherapist and do not return after the first session. Why do people disengage so early, when we have so much to offer? One of the key reasons is that we are too focused on conducting an Intake instead of finding a way to Give. We have to find ways to deepen the engagement with our clients right from the first session of therapy. The First Kiss is specifically for the discerning psychotherapist who is willing to challenge the status quo of our profession in the way we conduct our first sessions. At the forefront of coaching psychotherapists and agencies in their professional development, psychologist and trainer Daryl Chow, MA, Ph. D. (Psych) provides compelling applicable ways to increase your impact clients, so as to reduce dropouts and achieve better outcomes. By following the concepts in this book, you will also develop a perennial framework to sustain your lifelong development plan in improving your first sessions and beyond.
