Canines and humans have lived together for many thousands of years, to our mutual benefit. In addition to providing companionship, dogs can perform critical roles, such as assisting humans with medical concerns, searching for lost individuals, and detecting substances by scent. Researching how technology might be designed for canines has the potential to significantly improve the lives of both dogs and humans. Canine-Centered Computing examines the history and the current state of the art in this nascent field. It draws upon the extensive foundations and literature in human-centered computing to identify and adapt models and methods that are relevant for canines. It surveys the landscape of canine-centered computing and canine psychophysics, and generates a framework and set of guidelines to help inform the requirements, design, and evaluation of systems for canines. Canine-Centered Computing provides a foundation that will enable an HCI researcher or practitioner who is familiar with HCI theory, models, and methods to understand and contribute to this promising nascent field.

This textbook is aimed at providing students with an insight into the complexities of project management and cost management when working with modern methods of construction (MMC) such as off-site and volumetric construction. Part one begins with an introduction to the MMC sector and educates readers on what is meant by modern methods of construction. Chapters then cover procurement, supply chain management, quality management, and time management. Part two delves into the detail of cost management by introducing the basics of construction economics, cost variable analysis and the overall impact of introducing MMC into cost management. Through a series of easy to follow discussions, case studies from real-life industry experience, the authors clearly communicate the complexities of finance, contract, and project management when using modern methods of construction. Cost Management of Modern Methods of Construction is an essential new textbook for undergraduate and further education students on construction, architecture, built environment and quantity surveying courses, but is also a handy guide for practicing Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers dealing with an increasingly MMC focused industry.

How did actors of the late seventeenth century supplement their earnings? And what were the relationships between their other business and their acting? This Element focuses on the diverse career of Henry Harris, a leading member of the Duke's Company between 1661 and 1682, and co-manager of the company for a decade. A skilled engraver, Harris also held appointments at the Royal Mint and as Yeoman of the Revels at court, all against the background of a fragmented private life. Drawing on recently discovered manuscript material, this is the first full-length study of a major performer of the Restoration period.

This volume comprises full publication of the villa at Low Ham in Somerset, UK, bringing together for the first time reports on the multiple pieces of research undertaken over the past 80 years. Originally discovered in 1945 and famous for its ‘Dido and Aeneas’ mosaic, work by HSL Dewar and C Ralegh Radford revealed substantial sections of what is now known to be a large courtyard villa, however their drafted report was never published. RH Leech carried out landscape and aerial research into the site in the 1970s, and following geophysical survey, D Roberts supervised further excavation work in 2018 on behalf of Historic England. Here, Leech reviews the work of the 1940s, and together with Roberts produces an integrated narrative of the villa structure. Roberts contextualises both the villa and its newly discovered prehistoric antecedents in the wider landscape and the Somerset region. Cubitt considers the material culture of the villa, bringing together specialist reports on all the finds and environmental evidence, including previously unpublished material from the 1940s.
