Temporo-mandibular disorders are known to cause diagnostic dilemmas in stomatognathic system as the pathologies currently defined may vary in nature. Therefore knowledge and awareness of these mysteries along with evidence of anatomy and function of TMJ are essential for solving the complex and controversial issues related to their management. Imaging of TMJ is desirable to evaluate normal growth and development of the TMJ along with alterations in pathologic conditions including developmental, degenerative, inflammatory and traumatic changes. It's essence is focused on future innovations directed towards taking the mystique out of the diagnosis and treatment of craniomandibular (TMJ) disorders.

"Forensic Maxillofacial Radiology", has evolved as a potential tool over the years and has extensive application in the field of forensic odontology. It incorporates various radiological tools from the 2D to 3D imaging, that significantly aids the forensic odontologists to master their skills in the forensic identification procedures. From personal identification, disaster victim management, age and gender determination, bite mark analysis, craniofacial reconstruction, virtual autopsy and 3D printing, using various radiological modalities, the reach of forensic radiology is wide in today's technical world. Radiological aids also play an important role in the medico-legal field and in the criminal justice system across the globe and require more exploration regarding this subject to enhance its establishment. The paradigm shift in the forensic world has been created by Maxillofacial Radiology, while also playing a key role to ensure law enforcement, hence, delivering justice to the security of the common man.
