A blunt rebuke of high society. Many conservatives are ready to give up on fighting against the legalization of marijuana. "Hasn't the war on drugs been a complete failure?" they ask. And libertarians turn this surrender into a virtue: "People should be free to do what they want, as long as they're not hurting anyone." But as Christians, we must be ready to swim against the tide even when it's no longer cool. (And no, we don't do it by making unsubstantiated claims about Reefer Madness.) In Devoured by Cannabis, Douglas Wilson establishes from Scripture that marijuana usage is not comparable to alcohol consumption or to smoking cigarettes, and demonstrates that getting stoned is not an option for believers. Then he explains why keeping marijuana illegal is not a pointless battle but an important cultural watershed for every citizen. When we are deciding which laws are best, wisdom considers not just individual license but also which industries, penalties, and incentives we are putting in place. Liberty for potheads means tyranny for everyone, including the smokers enslaved by the drug.

C. S. Lewis's Ransom Trilogy, better known as "the Space Trilogy", is a much-neglected and yet critically important part of Lewis' works. It has captivated and bewildered readers since its publication, and though hundreds of books about Lewis have been written, few seek to navigate the maze that is Lewis's "space-travel story." These books are a distillation in novel form of one of Lewis' favorite subjects, a subject whose melody is woven into almost everything that Lewis ever wrote: the medieval model of the cosmos. Deeper Heaven is a guide and companion through the magical web of medieval cosmology, ancient myth, and critique of modern philosophies that makes up the oft-maligned "Space Trilogy." A student and teacher of literature and history herself, Christiana Hale will walk you through the Trilogy one step at a time, with eyes fixed where Lewis himself fixed his: on Deep Heaven and beyond. In the process, many questions will be answered: What does Christ have to do with Jupiter? Why does Lewis care so much about the medieval conception of the heavens? Why should we? And, perhaps the most puzzling question of all: why is Merlin in That Hideous Strength?

It's two decades in the future, and a Christian college student named Ace Hartwick has just destroyed his neighbor's so-called "wife"-actually a sexbot named Sally-in a trash compactor. Soon, Ace will be on trial for murder. Unfortunately for Ace, everyone despises his kind of "radical" Christianity, and, in the fragile America of the future, all the juries are fixed. A satirical novel from an award-winning pastor about love, the crack-up of the U. S. A., and refusing to back down when the whole world calls you crazy. Pastor Douglas Wilson continues his cheerful assault on stupidity with this provocative new satirical novel. Already labeled "the controversialist" by Christianity Today, and then given CT's annual award for Best Fiction in 2013, Wilson pulls no punches when it comes to hypocrisy, love, sex, and providence in contemporary culture. His darkly amused insights will either make you furious or make you laugh, or make you laugh furiously, but they'll never leave you bored.

Plod, don't sprint. Be fruitful like a tree, not efficient like a machine. In this punchy and wise book, Douglas Wilson considers the theology behind technology, work, wealth, and mission and gives unforgettable advice on how to be productive--and to think about productivity--in the digital age. We should not rush to buy each and every new iPhone or fancy new gadget, but neither neither should we reject the new technology out of nostalgia for the good ol' days when people worked with their hands or starved. Instead, we are called to see modern technology as wealth and tools that we can use, whether for good or for ill. The key is wisdom and the ability to create the right habits and the regular discipline to use what we have been given. Ploductivity: n, 1) the practice of plodding away at a pile of work, instead of frantically trying to sprint through it all 2) being stable and graceful, like a buffalo upon the plains, not frantic, like a prairie dog or roadrunner

It's that time of year again. This November 2019 pastor Douglas Wilson hoisted the Jolly Roger for the second year running and ceased making the qualifications he usually makes. In this collection, he takes aim, not just at liberals eager to destroy the world, but at the conservative Evangelicals who are letting them take over the church without a fight. Doug takes a hammer to Revoice, global warming, woke thanksgivings, and many other idols.

It's election season-America's most lucrative sport-and there are no rules. When climate scientist Dr. Helen Gardner accidentally reads an email from the International Task Force on Climate Change which proves that global warming is a lucrative scam, she's shocked and horrified. But that's nothing compared to how she feels the next day when her boss (the head of the Task Force) tries to have her killed. Helen goes into hiding with the help of her neighbor, a "fundy" Bible college professor named Cody, and an anti-eco-activist lumberjack-writer. But Helen's scandal isn't the only headline floating to the surface: the Democrat presidential candidate gets career-changing news; his running mate hits rock bottom after years of infidelity; the current Republican VP's past sins won't stay hidden forever. And Cody is about to uncover some dirt of his own.

Echoes & Shadows is a collection of poetry that was written over the course of the past half century. This collection of poetry began while I was still a youth growing up in a small rural Northern Michigan town. The collection was continued through my college days at Central Michigan University, extending through "learning years", finishing with my coming of age as a writer and as a person. In many ways, Echoes & Shadows is a life history. It chronicles the events of my life and it speaks of the people and places that have most impacted my life. The poetry collection is my thoughts, feelings, philosophies, and memories. Echoes & Shadows is dedicated to the family, friends and women I have loved who so often have touched my life and inspired this collection of poetry. My sincerest thank you to Lisa, Tracy and Carlie Jo for their time and technical assistance in compiling these poems. Their efforts were a big factor in getting Echoes and Shadows ready for publishing.

"Though St. John the Evangelist saw many strange monsters in his vision, he saw no creature so wild as one of his own commentators." -G. K. Chesterton The Book of Revelation was written to do just that: reveal. But most commentaries nowadays either engage in bizarre speculations about the future, or they keep an embarrassed distance from all the apocalyptic events that the apostle John says will "shortly take place." In this commentary, Douglas Wilson provides a passage-by-passage walkthrough of the entire book, showing how John's most notorious prophecies concern the Fall of Jerusalem in A. D. 70. Explaining symbols and characters as he goes, Wilson shows from the text that not only is this book not an elaborate code, but that Revelation is not even ultimately concerned with the end of the world as we know it. Revelation is about the triumph of the Church, which always happens when the Man comes around.

There is a time for rhetorical qualifications. That time was not No Quarter November. During November 2018, Douglas Wilson hoisted the Jolly Roger and went merrily swashbuckling his way through the culture and the church. Where he might usually make careful qualifications and check all the "on the other hand" boxes, he instead wrote a series of blog posts that slashed right to the heart of various matters. From the worst of the worldly (sexual chaos and atheistic evolution) to the frailties of the faithful (lame church music and foppish liturgical garb), both foes and friends got skewered. This book is the resultant shish-kebab.

"There is a broad way that seems right to man but which leads to death and destruction, so also there is a narrow way that opens up into unbelievable glories. This is the romance of orthodoxy." In this book, Douglas Wilson combines G. K. Chesterton-like prose with the Apostles' Creed, and explains such doctrines as the Trinity, creation, fall, salvation, Scripture, and the church with clarity and imagination. Rather than seeing fundamentalist doctrines as a narrow and confining straightjacket, Wilson sees them as the only way for people to find true freedom and joy.

If God is just and the Bible is his word, how is it that everyone is in such a fog when it comes to actually administrating justice? As a culture, we cry for mercy when we're hurt, and lustily pound the gavel when tables turn. Civil tyrants regularly trot out the thumbscrews and red-hot pokers, but just as many petty gunslingers take pleasure in targeting whoever "the big guy" happens to be. Is that justice?
Why Children Matter

Why Children Matter

In the Garden of Eden, there was only one "No." Everything else was "Yes." In this short book on Christian childrearing, Douglas Wilson points out that we have a Father who delights in us and makes it easy for us to love and obey him. If that is the kind of Father we have, shouldn't we earthly parents do the same? Wilson explains how parents should not just try to get their kids to obey a set of rules or to make their house so fun that following the rules is always easy. Instead, he calls for parents to instill in their kids a love for God and His standards that will serve them well all their days. This book also features an appendix in which Doug and his wife Nancy answer various parents' questions about various applications of the principles discussed in this book.
