Do you really want to be a New Testament church? Paul would command you to avoid it. Prostitution, incest, drunkenness at the Lord's table, sectarianism, and babble all were problems in Paul's rag-tag startup church in Corinth. Paul's letter was a course-correction for many in the church, bringing people back to the Gospel as the basis for right unity, sexual ethics, observation of the sacraments, and worship. This commentary works through this deep and sometimes confusing letter verse by verse, unpacking the details and making applications. Yes, even on the headcoverings.

Have you ever felt your marriage get cluttered up with sins and cumulative wrongs? Do you wish that you could deal with it, but don't know where to begin? Douglas Wilson loves to point out that the way you fix these sorts of sin pile-ups is the same way you declutter a garage: Begin with the first layer, work to the bottom, and then keep it clean. That's because the key to a good marriage is honest, complete, and humble confession of sin. This short little book, coming from a pastor with forty years of experience, offers concrete practical suggestions about how to confess sin properly and how to avoid other snares that married people tend to get snagged on, usually depending on whether they're the man or the woman. Decluttering Your Marriage will give you much gospel advice, with much gospel encouragement. Features an extra checklist to help implement this book in your day-to-day lives.

Readers of PG Wodehouse's Leave It to Psmith and Christopher Buckley's Thank You for Smoking will appreciate this lighthearted new satirical novel from the award-winning author of Evangellyfish (Best Fiction of 2012, Christianity Today). Tom Collins, mild-mannered president of a dwindling southern Bible college, becomes a target when a drunk prankster swaps his campus's American flag with the Christian one, and Dr. Tom refuses to "fix" the situation. Big media, exuberant students, petty enemies, and pretty secretaries all play a part in this happy-go-lucky satire for the twenty-first century. "Well, this is it. Caesar had his Rubicon. What do Bible college presidents have? A Rubik's Cube?" Flags Out Front: A Contrarian's Daydream

720 Morning and Evening Devotions for the Entire Year At the root of God's faithfulness and lovingkindness to us is the invitation to a great banquet: the Lord's Supper. Gospel-centered Communion is an all-encompassing sacrament, and So Come and Welcome to Jesus Christ takes inspiration for each day's grace and obedience from eating and drinking the bread and the wine. These 720 succinct and powerful readings come from the past fourteen years of Douglas Wilson's pastoral ministry, and deal with the many applications of the Lord's Supper that are suited to personal devotions. These include gospel encouragement, pursuit of sanctification, motivation and exhortation, observations on the church calendar, family life and community, daily bread, means of grace, and much more.

How do we build our sons to be tough but not arrogant? mannered but not soft? imaginative but not lazy? bold but not hollow? Future Men is a Christian guide to raising strong, virtuous sons, contrary to the effeminacy and sentimentalism of contemporary culture. When Theodore Roosevelt taught Sunday school for a time, a boy showed up one Sunday with a black eye. He admitted he had been fighting and on a Sunday too. He told the future president that a bigger boy had been pinching his sister, and so he fought him. TR told him that he had done perfectly right and gave him a dollar. The stodgy vestrymen thought this was a bit much, and so they let their exuberant Sunday school teacher go. What a loss. Unbelief cannot look past surfaces. Unbelief squashes; faith teaches. Faith takes a boy aside and tells him that this part of what he did was good, while the other part of what he did got in the way. "And this is how to do it better next time." As we look to Scripture for patterns of masculinity for our sons, we find them manifested perfectly in the life of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the one who set the ultimate pattern for friendship, for courage, for faithfulness, and integrity.
Confessions of a Food Catholic

Confessions of a Food Catholic

You can sin with food in many ways--by not sharing it, by eating way too much of it, by throwing it across the restaurant table... But you do not sin with food by bowing your head over it, saying grace with true gratitude in your heart, and tucking in. Sharp-edged but humorous, Confessions of a Food Catholic addresses the unscriptural approach to food that many Christians have developed in recent years. (By the way, a "food catholic" is somebody who accepts all eaters of all foods, even if he or she doesn't actually eat quinoa.) Specifically, the book addresses divisive threats to Christian table fellowship, the know-it-all pride of newfangled "health food" rules, and the dislocated moralism that makes "organic" and "natural" the signs of righteousness while disdaining the brethren who buy their beef at Stuffmart.

"Music is far more central to our lives than we perhaps assume. We come into contact with music all the time-sometimes explicitly as in worship, and sometimes implicitly as with the background music in restaurants that you scarcely notice, and other times explicitly (but still thoughtlessly), as with the music that many have loaded on their iPhone." What does God think about guitars? Why is it that everything from Europe is more liberal? These and other issues are addressed in this short series of punchy pamphlets.

Doug reviews Jerry A. Coyne's patronizing evolutionary screed, Why Evolution is True, chapter by chapter. Contains a pile of Doug's hilariously apt metaphors as it deconstructs Coyne's presuppositions about creationism and science. These bite-size guides - digestible in a sitting or two - are great introductions to specific topics. You can buy the full Onslaught bundle here.

"Seeping postmodernism" is Doug's topic in this book, in which "we surmise that the brain is Ireland and we call for St. Patrick." Don't be intimidated by this important word (or topic) any longer. These bite-size guides-digestible in a sitting or two - are great introductions to specific topics.
Same-Sex Mirage (and Some Biblical Responses)
Obergefell v. Hodges was a wonderful decision -- in that it's now forcing every Christian to decide whether their allegiance is to the Supreme Court or to the Supreme Being. In every other way, it was terrible. Same-Sex Mirage starts with the fundamentals of marriage and then traces the effects of this foundational institution in every area of life. Is marriage a private matter -- an agreement before God alone? Or is it public -- a matter for legislation? Obergefell was a disaster for our nation. And, as with every disaster, the biggest benefit is in understanding how we Christians ignored all warnings and let it happen.

Papa Don't Pope evaluates some of the most important issues between Roman Catholics and Protestants, including personal interpretation, apostolic succession, sola Scriptura, and so on. So this little book should be a huge help for anyone (Catholic or Protestant) with honest questions, as well as for anyone looking to interact with the original Protestant vision. But what's the point in stirring up differences between Geneva and Rome? Don't we have enough division over church and theology already? The truth is, we don't have nearly enough clear disagreement -- because clear disagreement is a necessary step on the way to agreement. So you could say this book has a catholic purpose (even if the future is clearly Protestant). The classical Protestant expression is Soli Deo Gloria. Roman Catholics might prefer Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam. May God hasten the day when we can say 'amen' to both.

In Rules for Reformers, Douglas Wilson poaches the political craft of radical progressives and applies it to Christian efforts in the current culture war. The result is a spicy blend of combat manual and cultural manifesto. Rules for Reformers is a little bit proclamation of grace, a little bit Art of War, and a little bit analysis of past embarrassments and current cowardice, all mixed together with a bunch of advanced knife-fighting techniques. As motivating as it is provocative, Rules for Reformers is just plain good to read. Thanks to Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals: A Practical Primer for Realistic Radicals -- a book well-beloved by Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and many others -- for much of the shrewd advice, and for none of the worldview.
