Maanmittari K saapuu keskellä yötä kaukaiseen vuoristokylään, jonne hänet on palkattu työskentelemään kylää valvovan linnan alaisuudessa. Tiettyjen epäselvyyksien vuoksi asiat eivät kuitenkaan tapahdu K:n odottamalla tavalla. Kyläläisillä vaikuttaa olevan omat näkemyksensä asioiden kulusta, mutta kuka salaperäisessä linnassa lopulta päättää K:n kohtalosta? Linna on viimeinen Franz Kafkan kolmesta pitkästä romaanista. Sen tarina vie lukijan hypnoottisesti mukanaan. Kristian Huitulan sarjakuvasovitus tuo visuaalisuudessaan aivan uudella tavalla esiin Kafkan romaanin absurdin huumorin ja tilannekomiikan, rikkoen vahvasti niitä yleisiä käsityksiä joita Kafkan teoksiin usein liitetään.

The Trial (original German title: Der Process, later Der Prozess, Der Proce and Der Proze ) is a novel written by Franz Kafka in 1914 and 1915 but not published until 1925. One of Kafka's best-known works, it tells the story of a man arrested and prosecuted by a remote, inaccessible authority, with the nature of his crime revealed to neither him nor the reader. Like Kafka's other novels, The Trial was never completed, although it does include a chapter which brings the story to an end. Because of this, there are some inconsistencies and discontinuities in narration within the novel, such as disparities in timing. After Kafka's death in 1924 his friend and literary executor Max Brod edited the text for publication by Verlag Die Schmiede. The original manuscript is held at the Museum of Modern Literature, Marbach am Neckar, Germany. In 1999, the book was listed in Le Monde's 100 Books of the Century and as No. 2 of the Best German Novels of the Twentieth Century.

"When Gregor Samsa woke up one morning from unsettling dreams, he found himself changed in his bed into a monstrous vermin." With this startling, bizarre, yet surprisingly funny first sentence, Kafka begins his masterpiece, "The Metamorphosis." It is the story of a young man who, transformed overnight into a giant beetlelike insect, becomes an object of disgrace to his family, an outsider in his own home, a quintessentially alienated man. A harrowing -- though absurdly comic -- meditation on human feelings of inadequecy, guilt, and isolation, "The Metamorphosis" has taken its place as one of the mosst widely read and influential works of twentieth-century fiction. As W. H. Auden wrote, "Kafka is important to us because his predicament is the predicament of modern man."

"A Hunger Artist" ("Ein Hungerk nstler") is a short story by Franz Kafka first published in Die neue Rundschau in 1922. The story was also included in the collection A Hunger Artist (Ein Hungerk nstler), the last book Kafka prepared for publication, printed by Verlag Die Schmiede after Kafka's death. The protagonist, a hunger artist who experiences the decline in appreciation of his craft, is an archetypical creation of Kafka: an individual marginalized and victimized by society at large. The title of the story has been translated also to "A Fasting Artist" and "A Starvation Artist". -Wikipedia
