Arthur wakes up one morning on a park bench. He is shivering in cold wet clothes. As he looks around he recognises nothing. He has no idea how he got there, but worse, he has no sense of who he is, and no memory of a past. A scrap of soggy note paper offers no help. From a blank sheet he has to create a life. Two Part Contention takes him on his journey to a new life. Meanwhile, Jack, a freshly graduated civil engineer, has arrived in Birmingham to start his career. A career founded on a job developing the latest thing in effluent disposal. Inspired by a previous girlfriend, he aspires to become a writer. But will the reality of working in an engineering backwater provide inspiration or desperation. Will Jack create the life he wants? In 380 pages Two Part Contention reveals how two lives building their histories lead to a startling conclusion.
