The Poems of Jonathan Swift Vol. 1 is a collection of poems written by Jonathan Swift, an Irish satirist, essayist, and poet of the 18th century. The book contains a diverse range of Swift's works, from his earliest verses to his most famous satires. The collection includes a wide range of topics, including political and social commentary, religion, human nature, and love. Many of Swift's poems are witty and humorous, while others are deeply introspective and melancholic. Some of his most famous poems, such as "A Modest Proposal" and "The Lady's Dressing Room," are included in this volume. Throughout the book, Swift's mastery of language and his ability to use satire to expose the absurdities of society are on full display. His works offer a glimpse into the political and cultural landscape of 18th-century England and Ireland, making this collection an important piece of literary history. Overall, The Poems of Jonathan Swift Vol. 1 is a must-read for anyone interested in Swift's poetry or the literature of the 18th century.
“A young healthy child well nursed, is, at a year old, a most delicious nourishing and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricasee, or a ragoust.” Jonathan Swift’s 1729 pamphlet is at once a denunciation of the mistreatment of Ireland’s poor and a daringly inventive comic rhapsody. Still shocking in its defiance of good taste and unrivalled in its evisceration of political hypocrisy, this is one of the greatest satires ever written. Eris Gems make available in the form of beautifully produced saddle-stitched booklets a series of outstanding short works of fiction and non-fiction.

"Gulliver's Travels Into Several Remote Nations Of The World" is a satirical novel written by Jonathan Swift and first published in 1726. The novel tells the story of Lemuel Gulliver, a ship's surgeon who travels to several remote lands. In the first part of the book, Gulliver is shipwrecked on the island of Lilliput, where he discovers a race of tiny people only six inches tall. He becomes embroiled in their political and social conflicts, which satirize the English government of the time. In the second part of the book, Gulliver visits Brobdingnag, a land of giants where he himself becomes the tiny person. He is taken in by a kindly giant and learns about the flaws of humanity from a new perspective. In the third part, Gulliver visits the flying island of Laputa, where he encounters scientists and intellectuals who are so absorbed in their own theories that they are completely disconnected from reality. In the final part, Gulliver travels to the land of the Houyhnhnms, a society of intelligent horses who live in harmony with nature. He is shocked by the contrast with the brutal and selfish behavior of human society. Throughout the novel, Swift uses satire to criticize and ridicule the social and political institutions of his time, as well as human nature in general. The book has become a classic of English literature and a masterpiece of satirical writing.
