Pozhaluj, net bolee izvestnoj povesti, chem povest Marka Tvena "Prikljuchenija Toma Sojera", kotoruju s udovolstviem chitajut uzhe bolee sta let deti i vzroslye. I eto sovsem ne udivitelno, ved v nej est vse, chto tak privlekaet chitatelja, - romantika prikljuchenij, zhivoj jumor, zakhvatyvajuschij svoimi neozhidannymi povorotami sjuzhet i dazhe tomitelnye ljubovnye perezhivanija glavnogo geroja - sorvantsa i prokaznika Toma Sojera! Osobennuju prelest nastojaschemu izdaniju pridajut velikolepnye illjustratsii znamenitogo khudozhnika Roberta Ingpena. V perevode Korneja Chukovskogo.

A consummate prankster with a quick wit, Tom Sawyer dreams of a bigger fate than simply being a “rich boy.” Yet through the novel’s humorous escapades—from the famous episode of the whitewashed fence to the trial of Injun Joe—Mark Twain explores the deeper themes of the adult world, one of dishonesty and superstition, revenge and justice.

Fresh from his escapades with Tom Sawyer, with six thousand dollars in the bank, Huck Finn faces a new challenge: his father, Pap, who wants Huck's fortune and will stop at nothing to get his hands on it. Escaping from Pap, Huck meets Miss Watson’s slave, Jim, who has run away after learning that Miss Watson may sell him. Jim plans to head north, find work, and buy his wife and children out of slavery. Huck joins him on a salvaged raft, beginning a raucous journey that transforms into a deep reckoning with human frailty and the hypocrisy of the antebellum South.
