This book explores the global developments in sport leadership and practice. Drawing on the vast and ever-growing leadership literature, the book examines advances in leadership theory and practice in the context of the challenges faced by those working in global sport management positions. It explores the various dimensions of leadership, with a particular focus on the development of leadership theory. It also looks at the operational and contextual elements of leadership in a global sport environment and finally reflects on the status quo, and explores future challenges and research opportunities for leadership and global sport management.

This book explores and advances the latest concepts and developments in event management theory and practice. Drawing on the ever-growing event management literature – and supported by theories and concepts from parent disciplines – the book examines challenges and opportunities related to maximising business and social benefits for those working in different event management positions in a variety of contexts. Written by an international team of five management scholars, the book investigates event management and leverage from various angles, including international business, event business studies, sport management, community development, and business strategy. It does so by offering a combination of theoretical approaches as well as contemporary cases from around the world. Os estudantes n o ligados ao desporto salientaram o aspeto de desenvolvimento da organiza o como um fator significativo para o seu envolvimento. Esta investiga o sugere que os volunt rios do desporto para o desenvolvimento esperam resultados instrumentais da sua participa o, tais como a aquisi o de novas compet ncias e conhecimentos, a socializa o, a melhoria do seu CV, o desenvolvimento pessoal, o desenvolvimento profissional e o envolvimento cultural.

I risultati suggeriscono che i volontari hanno mostrato un alto livello di interesse per lo sport; tuttavia, l'importanza dell'organizzazione come organizzazione sportiva stata evidenziata solo dagli studenti provenienti dai settori della scienza dello sport, dell'educazione o della gestione. Les tudiants n'ayant pas de lien avec le sport ont soulign que l'aspect d veloppement de l'organisation tait un facteur important de leur engagement. Cette recherche sugg re que les b n voles du sport pour le d veloppement attendent des r sultats instrumentaux de leur participation, tels que l'acquisition de nouvelles comp tences et connaissances, la socialisation, l'am lioration de leur CV, le d veloppement personnel, le d veloppement professionnel et l'engagement culturel.

Es wurde eine Einzelfallstudie durchgef hrt, wobei das Asian German Sport Exchange Programme (A. G. S. E. P.) in Sri Lanka im Mittelpunkt der Untersuchung stand. Die Ergebnisse deuten darauf hin, dass die Freiwilligen ein hohes Interesse am Sport zeigten; die Bedeutung der Organisation als Sportorganisation wurde jedoch nur von den Studenten aus den Bereichen Sportwissenschaft, P dagogik oder Management hervorgehoben. Studierende, die nicht aus dem Sportbereich kamen, hoben den Entwicklungsaspekt der Organisation als wichtigen Faktor f r ihr Engagement hervor. Diese Untersuchung deutet darauf hin, dass Freiwillige im Bereich des Entwicklungssports instrumentelle Ergebnisse von ihrer Teilnahme erwarten, wie z. B. den Erwerb neuer F higkeiten und Kenntnisse, das Kn pfen von Kontakten, die Verbesserung ihres Lebenslaufs, die pers nliche Entwicklung, die berufliche Entwicklung und das kulturelle Engagement.
