"Kogda vse poterjano, ostaetsja nadezhda", - utverzhdaet geroj odnogo iz rasskazov Reja Bredberi. I eti slova mogli by stat epigrafom ko vsemu sborniku "Lekarstvo ot melankholii", na stranitsakh kotorogo vsegda najdetsja mesto dlja grustnykh ulybok i dobrykh chudes. Kniga predstavljaet soboj originalnyj avtorskij sbornik, v kotoryj voshli dvadtsat dva rasskaza, sredi nikh "Drakon", "Bereg na zakate", "Prishlo vremja dozhdej", "Ulybka", "Zemljanichnoe okoshko" i drugie.

Samye izvestnye proizvedenija "starogo dobrogo skazochnika" Reja Bredberi v odnom tome. Ljubimyj pisatel millionov umer 5 ijunja 2012 goda, no on sdelal mir namnogo luchshe, ostaviv nam krasnye peski i kanaly Marsa, cheloveka v kartinkakh, Khellouin na Srednem Zapade, malenkie gorodki i temnye karnavaly. Pjanye senatory proigryvajut v indejskom kazino odin shtat za drugim, poka ne spuskajut vsju stranu. Velichajshim khudozhnikom sovremennosti okazyvaetsja ulichnyj khuligan, master graffiti i aerozolnogo ballonchika. "Mafioznaja Betonomeshalka" pomogaet Frensisu Skottu Fitsdzheraldu dopisat neokonchennyj roman o zolotom veke Gollivuda. Ot sovremennogo klassika amerikanskoj literatury - dvadtsat publikujuschikhsja vpervye rasskazov. I malenkaja poema v kachestve epiloga.

Odin iz novykh sbornikov velikogo mastera, vyshedshij v 2009 godu. V etikh dvadtsati dvukh istorijakh Bredberi snova demonstriruet chudesa, nepodvlastnye drugim kudesnikam: golosa efira oblekajutsja plotju i krovju, serdtse pogibshego molodym znamenitogo aktera prodolzhaet bitsja v chuzhoj grudi, pes pri monastyrskoj bolnitse prinimaet ispoved, a nad polem dlja nochnogo golfa sguschaetsja neprogljadnaja tma... Lejtmotivom, devizom, avtorskim naputstviem rasskazov Reja Bredberi sluzhat slova iz ego intervju: "...v gody vashej zhizni - zhivite. Ne stavte na sebe krest. Ne khodite s kisloj fizionomiej". Sbornik vykhodit v novom perevode.

Knigi Reja Bredberi ne vpisyvajutsja v prokrustovo lozhe ni odnogo zhanra. Mnogogrannyj, raznostoronnij, Bredberi vsegda byl i fizikom, i lirikom. On sozdaval novye miry i preduprezhdal o posledstvijakh tekhnologicheskogo progressa. Etot sbornik otkroet novye grani Velikogo Mastera: kak avtora pronzitelnoj liriki, khudozhnika volshebnogo detstva, demiurga tselykh gorodov. Rossijskim chitateljam Bredberi esche otkryvat i otkryvat... I, slava bogu, perevodchiki i izdateli etomu s radostju sposobstvujut". - "Nezavisimaja gazeta""Rej Bredberi - redkij primer avtora, k kotoromu ispytyvaesh ochen mnogo chuvstv, s kotorym nachinaesh druzhit, a v kazhdom ego rasskaze kak budto poluchaesh vozmozhnost poobschatsja s dobrym chelovekom". - Gorkij "V chem zagadka takogo tvorcheskogo dolgoletija Bredberi? V unikalnom sochetanii mnogogrannosti talanta pisatelja s vernostju neskolkim osnovopolagajuschim i formoobrazujuschim idealam - takim, kak dobro, svet, vera v vysokoe prednaznachenie cheloveka. I esche, nesomnenno, vera v chudo". - "Literaturnaja gazeta"

Rej Bredberi (1920-2012) - velikij master pera, klassik mirovoj literatury i legenda fantastiki. Bredberi namnogo bolshe, chem pisatel-fantast, - ego tvorchestvo mozhno otnesti k "vysokoj", vnezhanrovoj literature. Izvestnejshie romany, rasskazy i povesti, jarkie i iskrennie, prinesli Reju Bredberi slavu ne tolko pridumschika udivitelnykh istorij, no i filosofa, myslitelja, psikhologa. "Kogda vse poterjano, ostaetsja nadezhda", - utverzhdaet geroj odnogo iz rasskazov Reja Bredberi. I eti slova mogli by stat epigrafom ko vsemu sborniku "Lekarstvo ot melankholii", na stranitsakh kotorogo vsegda najdetsja mesto dlja grustnykh ulybok i dobrykh chudes. Oblozhka knigi vypolnena khudozhnikom Sereem Chirka s ispolzovaniem tekhniki sprej pejnt art (Spray Paint Art). Eto tekhnika risovanija ballonchikami s kraskoj na kartone ili gljantsevoj bumage. A Sound of Thunder -- the classic time-travel-gone-wrong story brilliantly illustrated by Al Williamson and Angelo Torres. Touch and Go -- an obsessive psychological thriller tautly executed by Johnny Craig. In one authoritative volume, here are two landmark story collections by one of America's most beloved authors, plus 27 stellar, speculative, and strange tales from other collections, including 7 restored to print The author of over 400 short stories, Ray Bradbury was a master not only in the science fiction genre, for which he is best known, but also in speculative, horror, and dark fantasy. Here are two of Bradbury's most beloved collections, along with twenty-seven other stories, that together represent the best of Bradbury's stories of the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. The Illustrated Man--the more Earthbound science fiction companion to Bradbury's classic collection The Martian Chronicles--contains eighteen short stories bound together by the unifying metaphor of a strangely tattooed outcast. The stories explore both the dehumanizing possibilities of space-age technology--in "The Veldt" and "The Rocket Man"--and the pessimistic, dark side of humanity, as in "The Visitor." The October Country collects nineteen short stories: macabre carnival tales, speculative horror, and strange fantasy. "Uncle Einar" and "Homecoming" concern the monstrous and immortal Elliott family. In "The Next in Line," a woman becomes convinced that she'll never leave the small, Mexican town she's traveled to on vacation. And in "Touched with Fire," two old men have learned to predict future murders. This edition restores the original artwork by Joe Mugnaini. Rounding out the volume are twenty-seven other short stories from the first half of Bradbury's career selected by Bradbury scholar Joanthan R, Eller, including "Frost and Fire," in which humans on another planet live only eight days; "The Pedestrian," about the only man in the world who does not watch television, and "I Sing the Body Electric ," in which a family purchases a robotic grandmother. Also includes such hard to find stories as "R is for Rocket," "Asleep in Armageddon," and "The Lost City of Mars."

This book has been considered important throughout the human history, and so that this work is never forgotten we have made efforts in its preservation by republishing this book in a modern format for present and future generations. This whole book has been reformatted, retyped and designed. These books are not made of scanned copies and hence the text is clear and readable.
