The Mirror of Alchimy is a short alchemical manual, known in Latin as Speculum Alchemiae. Translated in 1597, it was only the second alchemical text printed in the English language. Long ascribed to Roger Bacon (1214-1294), the work is more likely the product of an anonymous author who wrote between the thirteenth and the fifteenth centuries.

The Mirror of Alchimy by Roger Bacon has been regarded as significant work throughout human history, and in order to ensure that this work is never lost, we have taken steps to ensure its preservation by republishing this book in a contemporary format for both current and future generations. This entire book has been retyped, redesigned, and reformatted. Since these books are not made from scanned copies, the text is readable and clear.

Situe au coeur des controverses semantiques, logiques, psychologiques et ontologiques qui nourrissent les debats entre Paris et Oxford, il integre l'apport des traditions aristotelicienne et augustinienne pour proposer une theorie des signes qui se fonde sur une double relation du signe a l'interprete et au signifie, et accorde la primaute a l'interprete lequel determine et modifie "selon son bon plaisir" la signification du signe. Le commentaire continu du texte, un avant-propos historiographique, une introduction sur la genese de l'oeuvre et plusieurs annexes offrent une presentation d'ensemble de la philosophie du langage du XIIIe siecle, dans sa double dimension semantique et pragmatique.
