nidottu
The Population Situation Analysis (PSA) provides the basis for an integrated appraisal of the population and reproductive health dynamics and their impacts on poverty, inequality and development. By integrating a micro-and macro-analytical approach, the PSA clarifies the interactions between individual behaviour and demographic dynamics. The PSA responds to demand by countries that international cooperation should promote national capacity to building and recognize national ownership and leadership as prerequisites for development, in accordance with the principles agreed at the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and the Millennium Declaration. This manual contributes to more efficient evidence-based programming, which relies on increased capacity for data generation and new databases.
UNCITRAL Legislative Guide on Secured Transactions
The overall objective of the Legislative Guide is to promote low to cost credit by enhancing the availability of secured credit. In line with this objective, this Supplement is intended to make credit more available and at a lower cost to intellectual property owners and other intellectual property rights holders, thus enhancing the value of intellectual property rights as security for credit. This Supplement, however, seeks to achieve that objective without interfering with fundamental policies of law relating to intellectual property.

Men in Families and Family Policy in a Changing World
Despite an increasing worldwide focus on the role of men in families and burgeoning research documenting men’s contribution to gender equality, the importance of their engagement for work-family balance, and the numerous positive paternal contributions to children’s development, policy to makers have been slow to recognize the need for effective public policy that is supportive of men’s involvement in their families. This publication aims to promote the knowledge of trends affecting families and increase awareness of family issues. Addressing the evolving role of men in families, it outlines the need to develop social policies supporting these new roles for the benefit of families.

Collection of Municipal Solid Waste in Developing Countries
This book is intended for developing countries, but, since it seeks to encourage the designing of waste collection systems based on local information, the approach is valid in any given country. The main focus is on municipal solid waste, which is taken to include waste from households, businesses and institutions, construction and demolition waste in small quantities, general solid waste from hospitals (excluding hazardous waste), waste from smaller industries that is not classified as hazardous, and waste from streets, public areas and open drains. It is not concerned with waste from agriculture, larger industries or the mining industries, which normally handle their own waste.

The United Nations Environment programme Year Book 2011 examines global emerging issues and highlights major environmental events and developments over the past year. It also presents the most recent data and indicator trends, providing the latest environmental science. The Year Book demonstrates that plastic debris in the ocean can transport toxic substances which may end up in the food chain, causing potential harm to the ecosystem and human health. It also explores the wider impact of the use of phosphorus in food production. In addition, it suggests that halting loss of forest biodiversity is essential if forests are-adapt to mounting pressures, including climate change and pest outbreaks. Year Book shows how cutting edge science reveals new opportunities to mitigate climate change while improving air quality.

Étude sur la situation économique et sociale dans le monde
The World Economic and Social Survey 2009 argues that the separation in practice of climate change and development agendas has distorted the global debate on the two biggest policy challenges facing the international community. According to the Survey, an integrated approach based on the concept of sustainable development is urgently needed. It proposes that mitigation and adaptation can move forward effectively only if they are part of a consistent development strategy built around a massive investment-led transformation along low to emissions, high to growth paths. The Survey, also contends that a critical role must be played by developmental states able to mobilise public finance and build appropriate technological capacity.
