This volume contains the summary records of the meetings of the International Law Commission on its fifty-fourth session (29 April – 7 June and 22 July – 16 August 2002). The issues discussed at that session included: unilateral acts of states, diplomatic protection, state responsibility, reservations to treaties and international liability for injurious consequences arising out of acts not prohibited by international law.

In accordance with Article 102 of the Charter and the relevant General Assembly Resolutions, every treaty and international agreement registered or filed and recorded with the Secretariat since 1946 is published in the United Nations Treaty Series. At present, the collection includes about 30,000 treaties reproduced in their authentic languages, together with translations into English and French, as necessary. The Treaty Series, where treaties are published in the chronological order of registration, also provides details about their subsequent history (i.e., participation in a treaty, reservations, amendments, termination, etc.). Comprehensive Indices covering 50 to volume-lots are published separately. A Standing Order service is available for the Series and out to of to print volumes are available on microfiche.

Similar to controlled narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, precursors and chemicals appear under a wide variety of names. This new dictionary, published by the laboratory and Scientific Section, Division of Policy Analysis, completes UNODC's set of international drug dictionaries which also includes the Multilingual Dictionary of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances under International Control (MLD, ST/NAR/1), and provides accurate and comprehensive information on the chemical names of the 23 Precursors and Chemicals under international control, listed in the Tables of the 1988 Convention.

The new United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Carriage of Goods Wholly or Partly by Sea, the Rotterdam Rules, describes the rights and obligations of all parties with an interest in the carriage of goods by sea. The Rotterdam Rules bring more clarity regarding who is responsible and liable for what, when, where and to what extent. The application of the new convention will make international trade easier and lead to a reduction in costs.

This is the sixtieth volume of the most comprehensive and authoritative reference work on the activities of the organisation, covering 2006. This fully indexed Yearbook, reproduces in their entirety the texts of, and votes on, all major General Assembly, Security Council and Economic and Social Council resolutions and decisions. Its 33 chapters deeply cover developments in the main political and security questions, human rights, economic and social questions, legal questions, and institutional, administrative and budgetary questions.

The purpose of this annex is to summarize the literature on non-targeted effects associated with exposure-ionizing radiation and, where possible, to evaluate how such effects may affect risks associated with radiation exposure, the understanding of radiation to induced carcinogenesis, and the mechanistic basis for interpreting epidemiological data on radiation effects.

Within and across borders in Europe, children are trafficked into a variety of exploitative situations, violating their human rights and threatening their survival and development. This report assesses the legal, policy and implementation frameworks in place-address child trafficking in the region. Covering more than 50 countries/entities, the report investigates the complexity of the trafficking phenomenon, and maps trafficking patterns and targeted legal and policy responses. Child trafficking is addressed in the framework of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, with a focus on prevention, protection and empowerment.

The 2006 Energy Statistics Yearbook is the fiftieth in a series of annual compilations of international energy statistics and provides a global framework of comparable data on long-term trends in the supply of mainly commercial primary and secondary forms of energy. It presents data in original and common units (coal equivalent, oil equivalent, joules) for the years 2003 to 2006 on production, trade, stock changes, bunkers and consumption of energy. Data for each type of fuel and aggregate data for the total mix of commercial fuels are shown for individual countries and areas and are summarized into regional and world totals.
