The Toilers of the Sea is a novel written by the famous French author Victor Hugo in 1866. The story is set on the island of Guernsey in the English Channel, and it follows the life of a young fisherman named Gilliatt. Gilliatt is a brave and resourceful man who is deeply in love with a woman named Deruchette. However, Deruchette is engaged to a wealthy and powerful man, and Gilliatt must prove himself worthy of her love. The novel is divided into three parts, and each part tells a different part of Gilliatt's story. The first part describes his life as a fisherman and his love for Deruchette. The second part focuses on Gilliatt's attempts to salvage a shipwrecked vessel, the Durande, which is caught on the rocks of the island. The third part of the novel tells the story of Gilliatt's final battle with the sea and the forces of nature. Throughout the novel, Hugo explores themes of love, sacrifice, and the power of nature. The Toilers of the Sea is a beautifully written and engaging novel that captures the reader's imagination and transports them to a world of adventure and romance. It is considered one of Hugo's greatest works and is still widely read and admired today. This Is A New Release Of The Original 1866 Edition.
