"Where are you from?" Have you been asked this question and did not know how to answer it? This question, although seemingly simple, can make you feel lonely, disconnected, confused, and can often create an inner turmoil. Your answer to this question, where are you from, touches at the soul of who you are as it is woven into the perceptions of your identity. The co-authored book "Where Are You From?" A Question that Challenges Identity in a Culturally Blended World goes beyond the concept of Third Culture Kids and embarks on a journey to search for identity as a Culturally Blended Person. It is a series of travel stories that take place during conversations in Prague. These conversations touch on key issues such as: finding home, belonging, grief, child development, parenting, and having a global mindset. The authors, from two different generations, deep dive into learning and understanding how identity is shaped and influenced by answering the question "where are you from?" As you turn the pages of this book you are offered a window into the thoughts and struggles of both a mother and daughter dealing with the common issues that arise from the question where are you from. You will lean into their experiences of a lifetime and connect them to yours. You will deep dive with the authors as they share their struggles and challenges faced as Culturally Blended People. And then, like the authors, you too will be able to find the insights and strategies of success to move forward to write your own story on your terms.

Reframing behaviors for competence, confidence, and successful outcomes With dysregulation and neurodevelopmental diagnoses on the rise, classrooms are more diverse than ever. Despite efforts to support each student’s needs and sensitivities, educators are often left frustrated and unsupported when strategies for managing all kinds of behaviors, from anxiety to acting out, prove ineffective, short-lived, or even detrimental to the students’ and teachers’ happiness and progress. Through a reflective lens, this book equips teachers and support staff to help all students thrive by identifying and fostering each teacher’s and child’s individual differences and unique strengths. Written in an accessible, conversational style, this book will help educators: - Build confidence in identifying and addressing behaviors in order to support student growth and brain development - Learn about an interdisciplinary approach that combines education, occupational therapy, and psychology to better understand and navigate brain-based regulation, relationships, and behaviors in the classroom - Use relevant research, illustrations, and strategies for reflective and experiential moments - Discover strategies to facilitate co-regulation, establish positive classroom relationships, address sensory needs, communicate with parents, and practice self-care This reflective, insightful book provides workable strategies to help all students, as well as those who care for them, feel more competent, confident, and successful.

The Crisis Hits Home

The Crisis Hits Home

The crisis threatens the welfare of about 160 million people in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region who are poor or are just above the poverty line. Using pre-crisis household data along with aggregate macroeconomic outturns to simulate the impact of the crisis on households transmitted via credit market shocks, price shocks, and income shocks this report finds that adverse effects are widespread and that poor and non-poor households alike are vulnerable. By 2010, for the region as a whole, some 11 million more people will likely be in poverty and over 23 million more people will find themselves just above the poverty line because of the crisis. The aggregate results mask the heterogeneity of impact within countries, including the concentration of the poverty impact in selected economic sectors. Meanwhile, stress tests on household indebtedness in selected countries suggest that ongoing macroeconomic shocks will expand the pool of households unable to service their debt, many of them from among the ranks of relatively richer households. In fact, already there are rising household loan delinquency rates. Finally, there is evidence that the food and fuel crisis is not over and a new round of price increases, via currency adjustments, will have substantial effects on net consumers. Lessons from last year s food crisis suggest that the poor are the worst hit, as many of the poor in Albania, Kyrgyz Republic, and Tajikistan, for example, are net food consumers, with limited access to agricultural assets and inputs.
