"Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius is a series of personal writings by the Roman Emperor, created as a source of his own guidance and self-improvement. Written in Greek while he was on military campaigns between 170 and 180 AD, these reflections offer a deep insight into his Stoic philosophy and are organized into twelve books. In "Meditations," Marcus Aurelius explores themes such as the nature of the universe, the impermanence of life, the value of reason, and the importance of virtue. He emphasizes the importance of rationality, self-discipline, and inner peace, urging readers to live in accordance with nature and reason, accept events beyond their control, and maintain a sense of duty and responsibility. The work is celebrated for its profound wisdom, practicality, and timeless relevance, making it a cornerstone of Stoic philosophy and a perennial source of inspiration for those seeking to live a thoughtful, meaningful life. "Meditations" remains a testament to the power of introspection and the pursuit of personal excellence.

A compendium of ruminations and reflections by the?second-century Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, a staunch adherent to the Stoic philosophy. It is a spiritual journal of the author's philosophical exercises and a chronicle of the paradox of the philosopher-king, who must enforce the law and administer justice while looking beyond politics to the cosmic vantage point from which the tribulations of politics come to seem trivial.

Marcus Aurelius' her foreliggende "Betragtninger" indeholder alle 12 bøger i L. C. Hansteens klassiske oversættelse med moderniseret retskrivning. Tidligere er udsendt Marcs Aurelius'"Tanker til sig selv", i et kommenteret udvalg ved K. G. Brøndsted.

Marcus Aurelius Antoninus was the sixteenth emperor of Rome -- and by far the most powerful and wealthy man in the world. Yet he was also an intensely private person, with a rich interior life and deep reservoirs of personal insight. He collected his thoughts in notebooks, gems which have come to be called his Meditations. Never intended for publication, the work survived his death and has proved an inexhaustible source of wisdom and one of the most important Stoic texts of all time. In often passionate language, the entries range from essays to one-line aphorisms, and from profundity to bitterness. Marcus wrote to console himself in the face of the shortness of life, the shoddiness of the world, and the challenges of being human. He asks the very same questions that every thinking person must ask themselves today: Does the universe have a moral purpose, and what is my role in it? What exactly is it to be a good person, and how do I get there? Life is short: what does that mean for me? How can I get to know myself better? Anyone who is puzzled by such questions or searching for answers will profit from this timeless book, which is both an important historical document and a personal spiritual diary. This annotated edition will be the definitive translation of this classic and much-beloved text, with copious notes that will illuminate one of the greatest works of popular philosophy for new readers and enrich the understanding of even the most hardcore Stoic.

Meditations is a series of personal writings by Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor from 161 to 180 AD, recording his private notes to himself and ideas on Stoic philosophy. Marcus Aurelius wrote the 12 books of the Meditations in Koine Greek as a source for his own guidance and self-improvement. It is possible that large portions of the work were written at Sirmium, where he spent much time planning military campaigns from 170 to 180. Some of it was written while he was positioned at Aquincum on campaign in Pannonia, because internal notes tell us that the first book was written when he was campaigning against the Quadi on the river Granova (modern-day Hron) and the second book was written at Carnuntum. It is unlikely that Marcus Aurelius ever intended the writings to be published. The work has no official title, so "Meditations" is one of several titles commonly assigned to the collection. These writings take the form of quotations varying in length from one sentence to long paragraphs

Marcus Aurelius's Meditations serves as both a compact treatise on living a happier, more virtuous life and an excellent introduction to Stoic philosophy. Marcus Aurelius (121-180 C. E.) The philosophy of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius can be found in a collection of personal writings known as the Meditations. These reflect the influence of Stoicism and, in particular, the philosophy of Epictetus, the Stoic. It's one of the best books I have ever read. Meditations might make a point in say book 1 or 2 and then follow up on it in book 6 or whatever. Overall don't worry about how fast you read it and yes it is tough to read I have times where I can read a chapter a day but may not read again for a week or so.

This is a book of knowledge and philosophy that teaches readers about the origin of the universe, species, stars, suns, planets, and mammal life and has the top philosophies and riddles possible to this day. This book teaches readers that success is loving to repeat yourself over and over. It tells how 99 percent of people like to believe that the four true stomachs turn into, usually, a large tree when they die from over a million years ago. This book also teaches readers about limb regeneration from the top theory of a, yes, white pink flowered evergreen tree. Likely, this is the top book made available in this time of the human race-top everything book from over a million years ago. A book to calm the soul has been the greatest aspiration of man up to this point in history-I believe this is that book, and it will be, for ages upon ages to come, the most scientific, greatest simplification in all its forms. This book took twenty years to write.
