The eras of law enforcement in Arvada, Colorado, saw a small town emerge from its rural beginnings to a thriving urban city. As it grew, so did the demand for police services. With expansion came new challenges, and crime became more prevalent, including acts of violence against both residents and law enforcement. Public safety was no longer just a concern; it was a necessity. The future brought a more structured and organized police force, one that could meet the evolving needs of the community. Through The Eras: The Arvada Police Department 1904-2025 explores significant changes in approaches to policing, community outreach, technology, tactics, and noteworthy criminal events. The stories are wrapped around the genesis of policing and early prevention efforts. In many respects, the book's material reflects the professionalism of the Arvada Police Department and the origins of community policing, which long predated its emergence as a prominent concern in jurisdictions nationwide.

In the mid-19th century, many Dutch immigrants were drawn to the Midwestern United States. Most were farmers, escaping low salaries and high taxes in the Netherlands. My great-grandparents were among these, settling in the south part of Chicago and nearby. This area was called Roseland and South Holland. Families from among these immigrants founded the Dutch or First Reformed Church of Roseland. An important part of their settlement was the Dutch or First Reform Church of Roseland. As it grew so did the families. This is the genealogy of the ancestors of my mother's parents. It was done for our family, but others may find it useful. The main trees included are Vanderbilt, DeVos and VanVuuren. The genealogies within the U. S. are quite solid. The rest may require some verification. The Book is in Russian. Hans Brinker, or The Silver Skates (full title: Hans Brinker; or, the Silver Skates: A Story of Life in Holland) is a novel by American author Mary Mapes Dodge, first published in 1865. The novel takes place in the Netherlands and is a colorful fictional portrait of early 19th-century Dutch life, as well as a tale of youthful honor. The book's title refers to the beautiful silver skates to be awarded to the winner of the ice-skating race Hans Brinker hopes to enter. The novel introduced the sport of Dutch speed skating to Americans, and in U. S. media Hans Brinker is still considered the prototypical speed skater. The book is also notable for popularizing the story of the little Dutch boy who plugs a dyke with his finger.
