Nio aldrig tidigare publicerade novellfragment av Marcel Proust, det var vad som uppdagades i ett privat arkiv år 2018. Det handskrivna manuskriptets många variationer presenteras utförligt i en omfattande notapparat som gör det möjligt för läsaren att följa en fascinerande och ofta motsägelsefull och komplex kreativ process. Redigerade och uttolkade av litteraturprofessorn Luc Fraisse presenteras dessa novellfragment nu i Hillevi Norburgs svenska översättning. Den svenska utgåvan är dessutom försedd med ett nyskrivet förord av Emi-Simone Zawall.
